I was in the hospital!

I went to the hospital on Sunday night. I have a seroma in my abdomen and look like a pregnant woman.. it's just about 4 months since my LBL revision and can't believe it happened to me! I was at Alexian Brothers and came home today. I went through a battery of tests and was totally frustrated. My PS drained 250 cc of fluid out of me today. Ouchie, did that hurt! Needles in my abdomen and also just above the pubic bone too! I still am swollen and am going on my trip to Alaska tomorrow. I'm sure to swell up again and look pregnant. Jokingly, I asked my PS what he did to me in the OR 4 months ago... am I having a boy or a girl? They did all types of tests on me, my gallbladder, a CT scan of the abdomen and a GI Consult. I had to wait until today to have my PS drain my large seroma.  I am indeed the seroma queen... So I am off to Vancouver tomorrow morning for 2 days and then boarding the ship. I am going to try to do the zip line adventure. Got the OK from my plastic surgeon. I'll be back on July 22nd.  Chris P. I am sorry for your stepdaughter's loss and will keep her and the family in my prayers! Take care everyone! Hugs, Lucy

So sorry to hear you had some med problems. So did the dr say it could come back, what caused  it? I sure hope if it does it doesn't until you get home from that wonderful trip you are taking! I know you will have a great time because my brother went last fall. He wants to go again, but he wants me to go with him.  So have fun and stay healthy Karen

Hi Karen. Seromas are a common occurrence after plastic surgery. However, it is so rare to have a seroma develop almost 4 months out. It will take a couple of weeks for my seroma to resolve. In the meantime, I will have to have it aspirated every week or so. I won't be seeing my PS until July 23rd so my belly will be big, filled with fluid. I will try to have fun and stay healthy! Thanks, Lucy

I was really concerned because I had not seen you on any of the boards. Oh my I could not imagine having that done. I did not realize that a person could develope a seroma 4 months out. That had to be really uncomfortable. You take care and I know you will make wise decisions in what you do on your cruise. Enjoy yourself. Did you say that you were going on the Grand Princess? I do not know why I thought I remembered that. We were on her in Jan 2006 in the West Caribean.

Hi Chris. I am going on the Sapphire Princess. Dr. Madry couldn't believe it himself!  He stuck me at least 8 times in 4 different areas. I plan on taking it easy on the cruise. I will see how I feel about doing the zipline. He said it was OK. I have 2 days in Vancouver before I board the ship. We will be doing some sightseeing in Vancouver. Monica Ganz will be with us. I met her last year on the OH Hawaiian cruise. She is a hoot! I'm all packed and ready to go... just a shower in the morning and pack the makeup. Take care. Lucy

Lucy, you might have left already but you will enjoy Vancouver, it is so clean and there is a lot to do there sight seeing wise. Our Hawaii cruise stopped there before we went over the big water for five days to get to the Big Island. Chris
