Thursday Roll Call

I went for my first pre-surgery class yesterday at the Wellness Institute. It went pretty well. They want me to start by substituting 1-2 meals a day with either a protein bar or drink or a frozen meal. I think I can handle that. Doesn't sound terribly unreasonable. I'm really on a mission to drop as much weight as I can before surgery. Someone told me the other day that the best bit of advice she gives to pre-ops is to follow the food plan and drop weight before surgery. She didn't take it too seriously and dropped a small amount before surgery and now she regrets not working harder at it. So I am taking that tidbit to heart. The nutritionist gave me a sample meal plan and it definitely looks doable. If anyone has any recommendations on protein bars or drinks, including which ones to avoid, I would be glad to hear them. Someone told me AchievOne makes a pretty tasty drink that tastes like a Starbuck's Frapaccino. Haven't found it in any of my local stores yet but I did find a place about 30 miles away. Tonight I'm going to join a gym which is affiliated with a local hospital. Their normal registration fee is $350, but for the month of July it's only $25!! I'm taking that as a sign that I'm supposed to join! Next on the agenda is my initial consultation with the surgeon on July 18. I'm on my way!
Have a great day everyone.
Pat
