Hey everyone, Any ideas for soy protein powders? I am lactose intolerant so many powders and drinks are off limits. I am leaving saturday morning for vacation. I am one month post op. Any ideas for foods that are well tolerated in restaurants? I left a message for a new nutritionist because I need food ideas and I am having dehydration issues.Anybody have any suggestions as to anything that helped them have a bowel movement? My surgeon said to try prune juice but its not working. I am stumped. Hopefully the nutritionist will have some good ideas. I am just trying to see if a patient might have a suggestion or two. Also if you have been on Actigall how are you doing? I am nervous to start cause I have heard it causes tummy aches.  Well everybody enjoy thier evening. LIz

Shaklee has soy protein powders including one that has no flavor so it doesn't matter what you mix it in.  Makes thing taste a little chalky but other than that doesn't really change the taste.  I've used it in sugar-free kool-aid and chicken broth.  You are suppose to be able to cook with it as well but I haven't tried that. For constipation I've had to use Milk Of Mag every other week.  I also started taking 2 chewable Benefiber Tabs a day.  The Benefiber seems to be starting to do the trick.  Beans are another good idea as they are high in fiber. Hi! I am 2 months post op.  I have not had any trouble with the Actigall, and preventing gallstones sounds better than having another surgery to have my gallbladder removed.  Try Unjury protein powders.  They are a whey isolate and thus lactose free.  I have been using that with lactose free milk and have had no troubles.  http://www.unjury.com/  I've been buying the chocolate and unflavored and mixing them together a bit to make the chocolate a bit lighter - not so rich.  20 grams of protein per scoop!  + 8 grams for 8 oz milk = 28 grams - almost 1/2 way to the protein for the day! (The chicken broth one was pretty gross but the chocolate is good.) Nature's best Isopure - liquid drink sold in glass bottles is also whey isolate and thus lactose free.  40 grams of protein per 20 oz bottle.  lots of flavors, though the orange works best for me.  You can get this at the Vitamin Shoppe or GNCs.  Can be expensive but it's a life saver on those days when you just can't meet the protein requirement any other way.

As far as restaurants go - i'm just venturing into that territory myself - but have found that simple grilled fish works best for me.  Forget the rest of the dish and just focus on the protein.

Good luck!
