Pre surgery weight loss question
I have BCBS of IL and I need to show that I have 6 months of dr. followed weight loss plan.
Well I've done a million diets, but haven't necessarily kept track of it all and have moved 3 times.
So I'm off to get my dr. followed weight loss plan. Most likely Weigh****chers.
Ok, so I do this plan for 6 mths. What is the insurance company looking for?
1. Are they looking to see if I can follow a plan and lose?
2. Are they seeing I follow a plan and don't gain much, so I must need the surgery?
I don't know what I should do? I can lose weight up to like 20lbs before I stall. Then I gain due to any emotional stressor in my life. lol
What is the insurance company looking for? I don't want to screw up my chances to be covered.
Thank you in advance from a newbie.

Hello,
I am currently going to file my last appeal with BCBS. I did my supervised diet with my dr. I met with her every month. I had to to have a food log, an exercise log, and we noted lifestyle changes in my chart. Changes such as low fat, sugar free, using a smaller plate for portioning, basically all that good stuff. I have a form sheet that I got a copy of and my doctor had a copy of that was kept in my chart. Also you need to make note of the calories and your exercise plan with goals. I will say that BCBS had no problem with my diet. I lost 17lbs while on it. However they are giving my a hard time because my BMI has dropped below 40 twice in the last three years and they say that my co-morbidities are controlled. They say that they have to be uncontrolled. Hopefully you have an easier time than me. I was told unoffically not to lost any more the 15% of your total weight while on the 6 month diet. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
