LAP-BAND SUPPORT GROUPS?

HI,I'M LOOKING FOR A SUPPORT GROUP CLOSE TO MY HOME OSWEGO,IL.ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED

You should check with your doctor on that.  Usually most places that perform WLS have some kind of support group.

HI KATE,MY DR DOES HAVE ONE BUT IT'S IN CHICAGO.SOMETIMES IT TAKES ME 2 HOURS TO GET.ITS THE UNIVERSITY OF IL. @ CHICAGO CENTER....THE PLACE MY INS USES.LAST NIGHT I ATTENDED ONE @ CENTRAL DUPAGE HOSPITAL[IT WAS REALLY MEANT FOR POST RNY]BUT AFTER AN HOUR DRIVE & THE FACT I ALSO WANTED TO SUPPORT AN OH BUD I STAYED.I DID MET A NEWLY BANDED BUD THERE.WE ARE MEETING THERE NEXT WEEK FOR A BAND MEETING.JUST HATE TO COMMUTE!I WORK TO JOBS& HAVE 4 KIDS[18-REQUIRES ATTENTION&JUST HAD EYE SURGERY,14,3&19MONTHS]I'M A LITTLE BUSYBUT FEEL THE SUPPORT GROUP WOULD BE YET ANOTHER TOOL TO HELP ME.THANKS.

I drive about a 1/2 hour away to attend my support group meeting....Dr. Cahill from Little Company of Mary (in Evergreen Park) did my surgery and the support group meets the first Tuesday of each month.  I missed last month but find that attending the meeting helps me get back on track.  Good luck and I hope you find the support you are looking for.  Marcy

Hi Marcy,Nice to meet you.I looked up Little Co.of Mary on mapquest.Darn,it's 1+hr away from Oswego!So in real time that would be approx. 2hrs.lol Thanks....there's gotta be one closer.I'll be attending a band specific support group monday @ Central Dupage Hosp[an hour oneway]If it's good well then the drive will be worth it.I believe if I recall correctly you've had your band for a while???What's some words of advice?What do you know now that you wish you knew from the get-go?And what's your wt. lose so far.thanks for the reply.

Hi, I would love to find a support group for lapband also. I live in Streator, and hate knowing that the closest ones ar in the suburbs, and not just for wls. If you find one, pm me. Lisa
