New to Illinois

Hello everyone, I am a new Illinois resident, I am a Detroit transplant! I moved here in May for a job (which I could not find in Detroit) I live in Schaumburg and I am a paralegal working at a law firm in downtown Chicago and I am so happy here. I had Lap RNY on September 11, 2006 and I have lost almost 160 pounds and have regained my life! I could have never walked around Chicago a year ago and now I power walk to the Metra everyday! My husband is still in Detroit  waiting to hear from Blue Cross of Illinois to see if he can start working over here (he cannot just transfer because each Blue Cross is individually owned so he has to go through the whole process again). So for the time being, it is just me and my 2 cats Puppi and Simon. I have been stalking the Illinois board since I got here in May, I just have not posted anything yet, so I decided to come out of hiding and say hi !

Hi Licia, Welcome to IL.  I'm glad you came out of hiding and decided to join us.  It's got to be difficult living in a different state then you hubby.  My husband commuted for almost a year before we moved to IL and we both hated it.  I only saw him on the weekends to I can't imagine your situation.  Hopefully soon you guys can get settled. Congratulations on your success.  The journey is amazing.  We had our surgery about two weeks apart.  If you need a great surgeon for support or follow-up appointments let me know and I'll give  you the name of my surgeon.  He is wonderful. Hope you have a great weekend.  If you ever want to meet up for coffee or something let me know.  I'm sure it gets lonely being in a new state.

Hi Pam! I cannot wait until he gets here, I miss him so much. He was here on July 11th through the 15th not enough time as I was working all day Thursday and Friday so we did not get to spend enough time together. The last time I had seen him before that was in June when he came back from Detroit with me after my daughter's graduation for his interview with Blue Cross. I am going back over there on August 4th through the 6th since my parents sold the house we were living in and we need to eliminate all the junk we have accumulated over the last 17 years. I absolutely love it over here I would not change a thing except making blue cross hire my husband of course! Thanks for the welcome and greeting, I will post more often to the board!

Hi Christina, thank you for the warm welcome! I will probably take you up on the info about the surgeon, however, I am still covered under Blue Care Network in Michigan and to find a doctor here who will accept it has been very hard (I found that out last week). That would be very nice to meet for coffee as I do drink quite a bit of that sugar free of course! Again, thank you for the warm welcome, I have met some really nice people here in Illinois!

Licia, now stop lurking and come in and join us more often on the board. Stop in when you can to the daily roll call and say "hey". I am glad that you finally came out of the shadows and said hello. I will stop back in and do a more formal hello tomorrow. I need to fly right now and get ready to leave for a day trip with my DH.  I am not too far from you in Itasca, just south of Elk Grove Village. You might even go through here on Metra because it goes right through our town. Christine

HI Christine! Thanks for the welcome. I will try to post more often here since I have enough time on my hands! I actually catch the metra in Palatine to Chicago the Union Pacific line since the station is about 5 minutes from my apartment (I live across the street from Motorola). I am so happy here I just wsh the DH could be here full-time! I will drop by the roll call and say hey!
