Late roll call

Well, we had a little problem on the OH this morning and my post got lost in the process. Oh well. Let me fill you in on our day yesterday while we went to visit Dawn. We left real early for Rock City and rolled into town at about 730ish for the Lions Club breakfast. We drove around for a short while then decided to do a little walking. We found Dawn's house and low and behold she was down the street a ways (where else would she be, she's the director lady) directing parade participants to their starting points.  We introduced ourselves and touched base about the day. We had a wonderful time watching the parade and afterwards found our way back to Dawn's house. We were welcomed by all of the family, Dawn, Todd, Amber and baby Riley, David and Olivia. We even sort of made friends with Maxine the weiner dog and Tobey the ginger and white cat. We were welcomed like we were long lost friends and were told to make ourselves comfortable. Later on after partaking in Dawn's WONDERFUL beef and pork roasts and other goodies, we went down to watch the "Swiss Canoe Races". They were really fun to watch and a LOT harder to participate in than most think. After that was over we said our final good byes and headed on out to Rockford. We wanted to attend a church there that partners with our church. The name of the church is Heartland Community Church. It is so great that Rockford has a wonderful contemporary place to go to worship. We are pretty tired after having a late breakfast with a group of other WLSers that we know in the Chgo area. Afterwards we went to do some walking at Oak Brook Center mall, came home and I also went for a bike ride. I am pretty beat and am just chilling and watching HGTV. 'Til roll call tomorrow - take care. Christine

Dear Christine & Dave: Thanks for coming out to our celebration.  We DID have a great day!  Everyone is STILL raving about Dave's ribs!  I am going to have to try to make something similar, since they will not let me rest about it and I know that Dave's recipe is a big secret! The bands were pretty good and Olivia and her friend had a blast staying up until almost 1:00 am dancing their hearts out.  The fireworks were nothing too special *(they were still fireworks though) and did not last very long and the baloon rides were kind of lame, so you did not miss that much. I am a little sore (maybe from the canoe race?) , but all in all, it was a success. We enjoyed meeting you and getting to know you a bit better. Until later, Dawn I hope your visit at Hearland went well also.

Tell someone that you love them!
Dawn
