Update on DH
Morning everyone -
Just a quick update on Calvin. He is still residing at Hinsdale Hospital, I guess he needed an extended vacation, now why did'nt I think of that! On a serious note, he is having surgery this morning. They are going to remove this tennis ball size ooozing thing on his stomach ( now that was a technical term) and then will pack it. To be honest, they really don't know what it is other then extremely infected. They said it could have been a bug bite, ingrown hair, skin ulcer, they don't know. I'm sure I will be playing nurse Nancy for a few weeks. If all goes well today, he may get to come home tomorrow. They anticipate him being off work 2 - 3 weeks.
He's nervous and a little depressed about the whole situation but on a positive note, with all that has happened in the past five weeks, I think and hope that this has been a huge "I need to get healthy" wake up call.
Ok, I'm heading to the hospital. I'll update later. Once again, thank you all for your support and prayers. I could not ask for a better support system. You guys ROCK!
Christina
Thanks Ladies for your support. Just a quick update, I'm back at work. They postponed the surgery until tomorrow morning at 7:30am. They started running pre-op tests around 7:30 this morning, EKG, Ultrasound etc. Then the cardiologist came in and talk to us, gave Calvin an ear full about his smoking and being a type 2 diabetic. He said that the combination was at the very least a stroke or heart attack waiting to happen. The combination of the two is equal to having heart disease. So the risk of him having a heart attack during surgery or while recovery is intermediate risk but the surgery has to happen since the infection is getting worse. I actually slept like a rock last night and feel pretty refreshed at the moment. We will just take things one day at a time and if we have to, one minute at a time. Calvin had already planned on quitting smoking this past Monday. He had already bought the patches and was ready. I told him that God was doing for him what he could not do for his self by being in the hospital there's no way he's getting a cigarette. Hope everyone is having a great day. Christina
