Anyone know of a Dr in Illinois that does Vertical gastrectomy

I am going to be a self pay so I am probably looking at lap band or the vertical gastrectomy...Anyone have any advice? Anyone with the lapband have problems "feeling" the band inside of them?  Do you know how much either of these surgeries cost here in Illinois? I am considering going south of the border but a little leary of this although it is in my budget. It would be nicer to find a Dr. here in Illinois who could do my Surgery for 20.000 or less. Any info or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Sherri

Hello I went to the Kane center and at the seminar I thought they said that self pay at their clinic was 15000.00.  They said it was the self pay price. Shannon

As far as the dr question I don't have any idea.

Now the lapband , no you do not feel it. The port is about 2-3 inch above the belly button and  1-2 inch to the left. I guess after I loss the weight I might feel it but right now no. Hope that helps. Karen

Hi and thanks for your answers. I made an appt today for a consult in August for the Lap Band. I just have this fear that I will feel like I am constantly nauseated with this. Does anyone feel that way? I just know when I was pregnant and I had that extra pressure on my stomach from the baby (early on even!) I was nauseated badly from that little bit of pressure. This is what scares me about the Lap Band. Does anyone feel that pressure type feeling? I might ask this on the main board..just needing answers and I want to make the right surgery choice. If I have to travel for the gastric sleeve I will. They are offerinig it in Mexico for around $9000 and $10000...just not really sure if these are safe. Ohhhh the undecision I am in right now..lol Thanks for all of your answers. Sherri
