Friday Roll Call

Was over in the Geneva Commons shopping area yesturday when I saw the storm coming.  Told my daughter we better head out.  We made it as far as the stop light before the rain and sirens went off.  Was blinded by the rain but was in traffic and had to keep moving.  Closest place I could get to was the Meijers store in Geneva.  We sat out the tornado in their tornado shelter.  Headed home before the rest of the rains came in. They are repaving my street so the condo association has us parking in a grassy area that is actually right between my condo and Tom & Jerry's reasturant.  We got so much rain I had to call the tow truck to come winch me out of my parking spot.  I heard from another neighbor that the tow trucks had been pulling people out of the grassy area as early as 8 pm last night.  Hadn't even dawned on me to check the area with all the rain that fell after I had gotten home.  Had to wear rubber boots to get out to my car. Was up to 2 am trying to keep water out of the basement.  My foundation has now started leaking with all this rain.  Luckily the condo association manager came to look at it today and said repairs will be made by the association not by me!!! Thank goodness.  He said I was the second person to call this morning about a foundation leak.  They are going to wait a day or two to see if anyone else is having the same problem and have the contractor come see all of our basements at the same time. We have so much standing water it's hard to find an east- west road in Sycamore that's open.  The Kish runs through town and it's overflowing it's banks.  I found one road open but if there's anymore rain the kish will be overflowing that road as well.  Did see channel 13 news coming into town today. Probably doing a story on the flooding. I'll be headed to Minnesota at 7am tommorrow for my Aunt's Memorial service.  Will be back in town sometime Sunday.  Will check back in then. Shelley
