The Metro is only a couple of blocks north of Wrigley on Clark street and the whole neighborhood is very safe. That is a Saturday night which means that the whole area, especially Clark street will be moving with people until at least 5AM. There are always a couple of police on foot in the neighborhood as well but if you are with your husband you have nothing to fear. Taxi's will also be very easy to flag down in this area too. Parking there is permit only and the limited lots that are available will be very expensive on a Saturday night so you would be best to cab it. The cubs are out of town that night so you won't have to worry about dealing with the crowd after a game. As far as hotels, that is a tuff one. There is nothing on the north side except for some B&B's in Wrigleyville and Lincoln Park just to the south. I would suggest that you go on the Chicago Craig's List site
http://chicago.craigslist.org/ and click on vacation rentals under the housing section. There is a lot of out of town stuff listed there but you will also see condos and flats that the owners rent out just like a hotel. These are always going to be less expensive then anything you will get downtown in a hotel not too mention that they are condo's that are decked out with full kitchen's and the like. Keep in mind that you need to find out what all of the charges are because some will include the cleaning fee and others will charge extra for it. Also, some will include parking or a parking pass for on street parking while others will only tell you where you can park for a fee. Also make sure to find out if there is a minimum number of nights in order to stay there. Many of them require a two night stay but when you consider that you are most likely paying half the amount of a hotel if not more, you might as well take advantage and make a weekend out of it. If you are looking to bar hop after your concert, the Smart Bar which is located in the basement of the Metro will be open until 5AM on Saturdays while all the other bars in Wrigley will close at 3AM on Saturdays. A better option for late night is to go down to Lincoln Park on Lincoln Ave and they have a good selection of bars that wil be open until 5AM. Division & State street also have a good selection of bars and clubs that are open till 5AM on Saturdays. If you want to take advantage of a condo I would not wait to long because they tend to go fast on the weekends. Hope you have a great time in Chitown and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
