Just getting started and need advise
Hello! I am just getting started in the process of WLS and I need as much advise as I can get. I just moved to IL and my new primary care doctor is supportive of my getting gastric bypass. I have IL medicaid and this is the first time that I have even had a chance of getting WLS.
I am a recently divorced mother of one child. I am near Saint Louis, MO and I found one place there that takes IL medicaid but their waiting list is all the way till July of 2009. Of course I would like to stay as close to home as possible to have this done but I can travel a bit if I have to. I just know that now that I can I really want to do this. I am on so much medication it makes me sick and the doctor just added 2 more. I need this so badly.
Thank you so much for any help.
Have a wonderful day,
Angie
Hello angie!
I have Il Medicaid, and I am having surgery next month with Dr Ayloo, at the UIC in Chicago. They are relatively quick about the process( I was approved and I am almost done with appts, and I started this 4 months ago!)
If you can travel, she and her team are GREAT, and I cannot wait until surgery. It would be worth the drive. Hope this helps!!!

I don't know much about the Ill medicad but I have heard the the Peoria surgical group has a good program. I have even heard that they except your insurance. Here is a link you can get some info if your intrested http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/PeoriaWLSHelp/ You will need to register. I know both of our big hospitals offer WLS....I believe its all through the same group. Not sure. I had my surgery done in Downers Grove because I wanted to keep my surgery secret from the small town I live in and I know a lot of ppl who has had theirs done there. I would have most likely seen someone there at support group. This is closer then Chicago area for you.
