Home from Phoenix

Lucy M and I went to Phoenix AZ for the OH event. We had so much fun. The event was awesome, the speakers inspiring.  If you ever get a chance to go to an OH event I highly recommend it.   Bo Mcoy told me that Chicago IS on the 2008 schedule.  Jackie Guerra who is now the National Spokesperson for OH has such a dynamic personality and was so inspiring. Bo McCoy talked about his experience of starting at 625+ pounds, losing so much and regaining some and the strugge associated with that. he talked about the impotance of accepting responsibility and How he is moving forward after having a stomaphyx and once again being on the losing side.  there were other speakers - Terry Simpson MD, and another  speaker on relationship issues and communication, post op issues, exercise, Jeremy Gentiles the OH resident Hunk, um, er  --- fitness expert demo'd a simple easy to learn fitness routine that anyone can do from home. My own surgeon talked about stomaphyx and what it involves - his talk was titled - every one deserves a 2nd chance. He said that those who are following the program, and still having regains may have a problem with their pouch and/or stoma. I appreciated that he made it so clear it is not a failure of the person having the problem.  I was able to talk to my surgeon who had moved to Phoenix and express my grattitude for being able to have the surgery and how much it has meant in my life and my health. He actually had tears in his eyes when I gave him a big hug. I was proud to show him how well I am doing. We had a Halloween party and I danced til my feet couldn't go on any more ( pictures are posted on my profile)  My devil costume looked cute and Miss Lucy made an gorgeous Greek Goddess.  I hope every one gets to go when it is in Chicago -  it is such a great opportunity to learn, network, make friends and get  new support.  This is an amazing journy but it carries its challenges. the extra suppport is so valuable.  HUGS to all!

Hi Miss Pam! I was very naughty, just ask Willow...  I really enjoyed myself. I want to go back there.... so much fun. The weather was perfect. I loved the OH conference and speakers. It was worth the trip. How are you? Hugs, Lucy
