looking for a surgeon

Does anyone know of any lap band surgeons who accept medicaid in the state of illinois. I will drive where ever i have to, i just have to find one who accepts medicaid. I have called everywhere and can find no one who will accept it.  If anyone knows of a surgeon i would be extremely grateful for the information.

Medicaid does not pay for Lap-Band only RNY . I know because I am using Medicaid for my surgery on the 21st. Hope this helps!!!

as of my appointment with my doctor today, the referral to SIU and the phone call to the medicaid info line, a few days ago, they cover lap band surgery. Not sure why they will not cover yours?!? I was given the name of Dr Peralta at SIU school of medicine here in springfield who does it for medicaid as well, but there are all kinds of extra fees and labs involved over a 6 month period that are out of pocket. I cant afford to go through her 6 month program out of pocket to be considered for the surgery. Might want to call the info number again before doing the RNY. Medicaid does pay for it, it is extremely difficult to find a surgeon who will take medicaid!
