self pay for psych eval....?

Looking for a doc that does the psych evals and doesnt charge an arm and a leg.  I went to one yesterday that accepted medicaid.....well here was the orignal gameplan.... get psych eval go to chicago to dr ayloo for consult send for approval thru medicaid pending approval have pre op testing surgery if ok well apparently this doc had other things in mind.  Now mind you, i have had a psych consult before through self pay, but decided this would be cheaper.  i go to see him, first it takes 2 hours....then i finally get in to his office (about 30 minutes) and he asks me all these questions not like the other doc.  then he found out i had taken my daughter to a psychologist for some issues she ewas having regarding transitioning and now he wants medical records from that doc because "she knows me better" and then he wants to see me again in 4 weeks, preferably after i have the consult.  UH NO.  First off, the doc was not for me...it was for my daughter, so obtaining records from her would be in my daughters name and have very little to do with me....*sigh* chicago is 4 1/2 hours away from me, she said not to even bother coming without the consult because she can't send off for approval without it and it would just hold things up.  i just need to suck it up and self pay i guess but im looking for a cheap doc that will do it right.  Im talking less than 150 preferably.  Any options would be greatly appreciated. thanks

why don't you look in the phone book for psy and ask if they do consults for surgery approval explain what you need maybe try chestnut or call up to the hopsital and check ketler or something.

Make sure your surgeon will accept a report from whoever you find, I too looked for a doc that was in my plan, but since I wasn't seeing him already, (had to already be a pt. for at least 6 months) I had to see the doc they work with. Good luck
