For the Ladies-Birth Control

Hello,

I have a question.  Most of the doctors say that you must use 2 forms ofr birth control after WLS.  What does that consist of?  I cannot use any condoms as I have has allergic reactions to all types.  I am currently on the NuvaRing which is good because I heard the pills were not good to take after. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Kelly , I know exactly what you are talking about. I am currently on b-control for PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)  I take Femcon which is a chewable birth control pill. A few post-ops that I have seen on the boards take this as well. I have a consult with my OBGYN for an IUD (intrauterine device). There are a few options, you just have to pick one that works best for you. My pre-op journey is winding down.. this owuld be one of things I wish I had done alot earlier. Hope This Helped, Jazzi

I too am allergic to latex and have had problems in the past with bcps so I got an IUD 2 years ago, I love it, but the Dr did tell me to still use 2 forms which now I see why.  Even with the IUD, which partially works by not allowing a fertilized egg to implant, you can still get pregnant, and I have twice, miscarrying both times.  The first miscarriage wasn't that bad, just like a real heavy period, and I didn't miss a period, was just late by a couple weeks.  This last one I did miss a period, was in horrible pain, throwing up, headaches, etc...  I'm checking into a 2nd form of bc now, hoping maybe that the pill might work for me now since I've had wls and the hormonal changes might be different.
