I heard this is normal. At my preop class there were lap band patients included in it and they were told they would start to feel this way around 3 weeks out. The nurse explained that they will have to work on their eating on their own before they get that first fill. Something like what you had to do for th family dinner. Good luck to you

Ms. Mika is FINALLY A LOSER!

You are completely normal!  Once the swelling from surgery goes down you can eat nearly normal amounts of food before your first fill.   Stick to your post op eating plan, avoid sweets, don't graze, don't eat junk..   Once you start getting fills the amount you eat will decrease.   Once you get optimal restriction you'll get full on a small amount of food and stay full for hours.  It may take more than one fill to get optimal restriction.  Work on your good habits in the meantime including exercise, as no WLS will ever do all the work for you.  The better you are at sticking to the post op guidelines from the band booklet and the nutritionist, the better you will loose when you start getting fills.  Only 1 week 'til your first fill.  You can do it.   I did  - almost 3 years ago and 120 lbs ago. The patients who have lost so much in a few weeks are RNY patients or if banded, they have had prolonged swelling or have been extraordinarily compliant with the guidelines.  Banded patients rarely loose as fast as RNY patients, but can get to their goal.   Don't compare yourself to the bypass patients!

http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/a,messageboard/boa rd_id,5359/ this is where I got all my band questions answered.... It is normal to feel hungery since you  do not have restriction yet. That will come when you hit your sweet spot with fills. It took me 4 fills to finally get the restriction I needed to eat only 1/2 cup...It will come really. Until you see the dr make sure you eat your proteins... always eat that first... Protein helps to keep you satisfied longer.... Eat about every 2 hrs of needed... Drink tha****er in between those meals... use those SF popcicles...I do recommend going to the lap band fourm though.
