Denied AGAIN!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone! I just got back from weigh****chers. I don't know what's more depressing, getting denied or weighting in at your heaviest at 210.2......At least I went and I am going to do something about it. Since everyone know my weight now, I will keep everyone updated w/ my progress. Ryan my husband went to the grocery store tonight for me and stocked up on all healthy foods and tossed everything in the house that was junk!!! See, he is a heath nut and works out EVERY stinken day....
I can not thank everyone enough for being so kind in this hard time! I will keep everyone posted to what Maggie says tomorrow.
Kim, I have fought with BCBS since 2006. Followed all their info needed they denied me maybe 15 times, finaly they told me I had missed one appointment in my last diet and were dening me for that reason. The weight that you start your diet is the qualifing weight. I did start a new diet at my highest weight, finished my diet on NOV/19/07 resubmitted my information. Was approved on Dec/15/07 by that time I had switched to United Health Care and my doctor could not get the surgery done before the end of the year. So here I go again trying to get approved. So I can feel your pain. Maria
Kim, I am so sorry you are being put through these hoops by BCBS. I know only too well, what you are feeling and going through. I went through 16 months of it. I just wish you could get Michelle to handle your case-she seems so much more pro-active than Maggie. I wish you well w/Weigh****chers and I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Bigs Hugs-Janet K
Dear Kim:
I am sorry to hear that you were denied by BCBS again. What is the date that your BMI became 40? That will have to be your starting point for the 5 years. On the other hand, if your BMI was 40 (or more) five years ago, and it only dipped below the one time, you will be able to appeal on that basis. My BMI dipped once in the last 5-15 years, but it was above 40 90% of the time in the last 15 years.
Do not give up, it took me almost two years and 2 different insurance companies to be approved.
I think that it is great that Ryan is willing to help you. If he is a health nut and works out every day, you can do this together! It will most certainly make your relationship stronger.
Hang in there, things will get better.
Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your second denial. I have been there. It took me two years to get my surgery scheduled and done. Changing insurance companies in the middle didn't help much either. I can't imagine how bad you feel, but take time to let it all out. Don't bottle the anger and frustration up inside. You will feel better at the end (unless you try and burn the building down, that isn't the best move). Once you get your head clear, look at the plan of attack again and see why they denied you and knock that one out as well. Don't let them win, that is what they want you to do, is quit. You are stronger and tougher than them. When you finally get your surgery, you can laugh at them all you want, because YOU WILL WIN!
Now stay indoors today, it is cold out!
