OT NEW UPDATE wedding dress

Well, we opened the sealed box after I got my hair colored and cut. Which by the way my hair looks fantastic. I went for a different style. I  went through the magazines for a new style. But, I digress - back to the dress. We opened it and Dave was really disappointed because even with the supposed preservation it yellowed and there are stains. Connie, all my lace YEAH was intact and perfect except yellow.  Believe it or not the veil is almost pristeen and white.  We will never know if they really cleaned it.  I have a warrantee and supposedly it is still in effect . .  It did have the three safety pins still in it that I had used because my bussell had broken. There is a rather large stain of a liquid or whatever in the lap area. I am going to have it cleaned professionally before the pictures to see if that helps the situation. Dave took pictures and when he e-mails me them I will post some in my album. The only thing I did not have on was my veil because I did not have any pins to hold it on my head.. I am really curious if the stain will show in bright light. I do not know if it will show in the photo studio lighting that they have. We probably will have the brown tone pictures taken this time. And oh by the way  I am not a math major - this year is our 34th we are just going to have the picture taken early for 2009 Christmas pictures. I am a dingbat! Anyways, I really should not have expected the fabric to be perfect because all things start to age over the years. Maybe with the brown tone pictures it will look prettier. And look at all of us - I think that we probably have all gotten better with age. Oh - by the way it almost fit. Like I said I am about 20# heavier. But all you have to is use some clippies in the back for the picture because those will not be seen. That is minor because 5 years ago I would not have even been able to put the arm sleeves on. I have come a long way baby Chris  &

I am so sorry that your dress (lace) yellowed, and stains appeared. Since you do have a warranty on it, I think I would take it back where you had the process done (if they are still around) and have them take a look at it.  I think my dress is in the cedar chest, along with my MIL's dress. I know mine is wrapped in some kind of blue tissue paper. I guess I will have to look at it and see how it survived 42 years packed away. I hope to eventully  try it on again, but I still have a long way to go to do that.  Its great that you are so close to the size you were then.  Lisa

Basically, the warrantee would be for recleaning it and preserving (sealing it back up) it again. How would I know if they rectified the staining issue if it is sealed again? It is kind of a catch twenty two.  I want to have the picture taken first. Oh well, I will deal with after we get back from FL the week plus after Easter. We leave next Thurs. and return the following Monday. It will all get rectified, I have other things to deal with first like pulling my summer clothing out, washing, dust, vacuum, clean baths because my sister is staying here while we are gone. The house does not need deep cleaning just your basic everyday things. Chris

Christine....I just love the progressing story of the bridal gown!  I am so sorry it was stained, but overall it sounds like it made it thru ok?  I can't hardly wait to see these pics!  After 34 years and able to fit (maybe not perfectly) into that gown is a WOW moment!!!!  I think you'll look just beautiful once that gown is on! Pam, it did look nice and of course we got all teary eyed over it plus the new hair cut . . .  Back when we got married the cream colored dresses were just coming out but I wanted a traditional white dress but I still kept thinking about the other color. Well, LOL I have it now. The thing is that I vaguely remembering spilling a drink in my lap, how weird is that after all these years? The fit does not have to be perfect, it only needs to look nice from the front for the pictures. Chris

Oh I am glad that it wasn't too bad.  It almost sounds as if they didn't really clean it before they preserved it.   I hope the stains come out okay.  I can't wait to see pics of the dress AND of your new haircut!!

Well.....it sounds like it held up OK.  I hope they are able to clean it well enough for the pictures anyway.  If you are going to have the pictures sepia toned, or brown toned, it should not matter. I am anxiously awaiting the pictures.........

Tell someone that you love them!
