advice on cold drinks
Hi everyone, I am about 2 1/2 weeks out from my RNY. I was told no ice for 6 months. And to drink everything at room temp. Has anyone else been told that? I am starting to get really really thirsty. It is almost 100 outside, and I just want cold!!! I have cheated and had cold tea, and it didnt hurt, so is it because of cramping maybe? Do you all think it is ok to drink cold things yet? Also , on my phase 3 diet Im on, it says I can have pasta and rice. Isnt pasta fattening though? It just seems odd to me to eat them things and still think I can loose weight. AM I crazy? ANd how much of what we eat do we really absorb of the fat and carbs?
Hello, I was drinking and eatting cold things from the day after surgery, and My Dr. said no Carbs, for 6 months, But every Dr. has their own set of rules.
Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
I've been drinking cold from the day I got home from the hospital... I guess it all depends on your doctor.
My cold favorite drink right now is DIET Raspberry White Tea.... YUMMY!
And my second favorite is DIET Ocean Spray Cranberry Grape... I feel like I'm having a treat and it's only 10 cal for the 10oz bottle.
Ice is my "treat" when I'm watching my son's baseball games.... I sit and suck on it in the hot weather......
Hello congrats on your RNY!!! I had a hard time drinking cold things at first... but I kept trying because I really like my drinks with ice, what would happen to me is it would hurt in my pouch and it would come back up, I found that it happend mostly with water... So I did have to drink my water at room temp for about 7 weeks or so... Then I could add ice and get it down... I was SO happy.... My Dr. gave us ice in the hospital so I don't know the reason why you doc says no ice for 6 months... have you asked? I can do very little pasta and I can not do rice... I can only do toasted bread once in a while bread not toasted is too heavy... Best Wishes to you!!! Jenn
