Gastric Ulcer

I have been diagnosed with a gastric ulcer.  Has any one else find out that they had an ulcer?  Is this something that will affect my chances of having surgery?   Thanks Michelle

PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS...SO NO DAGGERS OR FLAMES THROWN MY WAY....I HAVE HAD GASTRIC POLPYS AND ULCERS AND HAD THEM REMOVED AND WAS ABLE TO GET BANDED.  I AM NOT SURE WHAT SURGERY YOU ARE LOOKING INTO...HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IF YOU DO HAVE GASTRIC ISSUES LIKE THIS IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU TELL YOUR PCP AND YOUR WLS DOC.  I WAS TOLD THAT SOME WLS DO NOT PERFORM THE RNY IF YOU HAVE ISSUES W/GASTIC POLYPS/ULCERS.  REASON BEING IS THAT THEY CAN FORM IN THE POUCH THAT THEN THE GI CAN NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ....TO REMOVE THEM.  THIS IS WHAT I HAVE READ SEVERAL TIMES ON THE LAP BAND FORUM FROM SOME LADIES THAT WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS ISSUE LAST WEEK AND THE WEEK BEFORE.  BETTER TO BE SAFER THAN SORRY- LET YOUR BOTH DOCS KNOW.
