FiServ Insurance
Hi im new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone out there has FiServ for insurance and has had or been approved for the Lap Band?
I had a doctors office try to get an approval and I got my letter back today saying I was denied. The reason the letter stated was because it was an exclusion on our policy and not a covered benefit.
I then called insurance and they said in Chapter 938458.3- 3 ( something like that lol) that it clearly stated that no weight loss programs were included even with a doctors referal which I have.
Im so discouraged!!! Someone please give me a ray of hope and tell me if they have had some luck with this company! Thanks

Hi MaryBeth and welcome to the Illinois board.
Unfortunatly, I cannot help you with your insurance, except to say if there is an exclusion to weight loss surgery, there is not much you can do. You may try to ask them (your employer) to include it when it is renewed, or self pay. You can also get medical loans to help you.

Your Lap Band will happen, my insurance excluded it for years, then in 2007 it was back. You can bet I was one of the first to start my journey.

I finally got ahold of Insurance supervisor and she said under no cir****tances will they pay. Not even for Diet pills. I just recently got on my husbands insurance and I was so excited thinking maybe one day I would be happy again and now this.
