The Hour of Power message was a good one. I have read several of his books as well as those leading me to a number of books by Dr. Peale and Zig Ziglar that were very useful to me in Texas Real Estate. I bought my first VCR, in the early eighties, so that I could record the Hour of Power while I was at church.
I have my second appointment with a nut late this week. I will likely move my appointment with Madura back a month or two. Buying shirts and undershirts for interviews has the budget a bit cramped. I will wait until next week to determine that for sure.

I got up early this morning to go to early church and start laundry. This afternoon I am going to spend some time with my newspapers from this week. I've also done more closet weeding. I cant believe how many clothes are getting eliminated. Pretty soon there will be nothing to wear!

Have a great afternoon!

Hello friends!
I have been doing laundry since I want to do felting this afternoon and I didn't want to get yarn on the laundry. We need to get Kay a new phone later and as always I have knitting projects and some for Christmas to plan. Kay is thinking about Costa Rica for a garden tour but I'm not sure I could do 11 days of gardens (shoot me now!).
I can't believe it is fall already--did we have summer? Well fall is my favorite, so I know I will enjoy it!
Back to the laundry!
Have a good day!

Christine,
Hopefully by now the mom of the groom doesn't value her worth by her child's (adult's) behavior! If my kids did something like that, i wouldn't be the slightest bit embarrassed, pissed maybe, but not embarrassed. My adult children (and even when they were little) don't control by worth. If they do embarrassing behaviors, it's about them and their choices.
So many of us were raised with the message "don't embarrass your parents, make your family look good". This is what Alice Miller in "Drama of the gifted child" calls " poisonous pedagogy". It is the family's responsibility to teach the child to be who that child is, not to make the folks look good. If kids were raised to develop their best selves, I'd be out of a job!

Hello Christine and Illinois friends,
Too bad about your nephew and his mom's situation . Hopefully the two families can get together and work it out.
My daughter came home from college last night, she had a party to go to and some laundry to do- and of course stock up on granola bars, soda, and get some winter clothes.
She has a cold and my hubby was alarmed to allow her near me. He gave her stern instructions on hand washing and set out hand sanitizer everywhere.
She vacuumed for me this morning before heading back. Which became funny to me because she did not know much about using the vacuum, I guess to empty the Dyson could be complicated. It's always been easier to do everything myself until now.
On my to do list today is the task of ordering a vacuum for my daughter to be delivered to her at her dorm. This whole vacuuming scenario had a purpose, to show me she needs EASY to use one. Nothing fancy and maybe with instructional CD????
I did see something outrageous last night from my front window , a truck stopped on the street , I saw a man motioning for another to come, he then took an ax and hit the ground around a small parkway tree. Another man came from through the neighbor's yard, they spoke then drove off without the tree. I could see a young tree was in the bed of the truck - now I don't think public works comes around at 6:18 am... and hey they would have nice truck with city insignia of PW. Imagine tree nappers rooming my hood!
Of course I called the police and informed them. So if you live in Arlington Heights area and you lost a young tree... they have description of possible suspects.
Did anyone have a hard time resting once home from surgery? I sure do. So today's plan is to rest more, I been up and down so much since I came home from hospital one of my drains is paining me and well looks like it wants to be a problem.
I plan to watch a foreign movie called Jodhaa-Akbar, it's 5 hours, kind of a love story / history movie based in the sixteenth century. This will do the trick of keeping me still for awhile!!
Everyone have an awesome day,
Cathy
