Biggest loser.
Watched Biggest Loser yesterday.
What group do you want to win?
I want either the old couple (white team) or the 2 fat guys Dan and Dave (Orange team) to win.
The old couple looked so nice. He passed out th first weight in. Theylooked like they were in love with each other, they looked like a ice couple.
I liked The Orange team because they are Dan and Dave. Like me and my twin brother. We are Dan and Dave too. And we are fat too.

I dont like how the show is sending half he people away this year.
I think there is a suprise that they are working out somewhere else and it will be skinny when they get back in a few weeks.

I didn't see it (I feel too humiliated for those poor people shoved into their teeny tops and shorts for official weigh-ins and challenges), but the buzz around here seems to be that one of the men had a RNY and is now over 400 pounds. I don't know the story, maybe you can verify that since you watched it?
If that is true, I am bummed because that means the general public may get the impression that WLS doesn't work or doesn't save/change lives.
What do you guys think?

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
He had a gastric exclusion, which isn't exactly a RNY, but a lot of people on these forums think so.
In the exclusion the stomach is cut and then connected to the small intestine.
In the RNY the stomach is cut and connected farther down the small intestine.
There is a lot less digestion and absorption taking place in the modern RNY.
BUT, both are just a tool.
The guy was 435? Lbs. He looked horrible because the folds around the surgical scar.
I think he is going to lose a ton of weight. Faster then the others.
I think (just a theory) the guy sat around and grazed all day in order to gain the weight. They showed a MRI image of his small stomach, so he hasn't streched it to a hugh size.
He will get on a regular eating schedule, work out alot, and he will lose weight faster then the rest of the people.
He will be getting full on smaller amounts and not get as hungry as easy as the rest.
I really don't think it is fair to the rest of the people.

Oh boy! Now THAT sounds like some good TV! I can picture the hue and cry as people say "it's unfair--he had surgery!" We can't win!
Well, like the grouch I am, I always say to myself when this show is on, "let's see how these people are doing in two years, when they're long out of the spa ranch bubble, can't work out 24 hours a day and life gets ahold of them again." I guess he's no different than the rest of them in that.
Honestly, good luck, Biggest Losers!

I watched it too and I want Dan and Dave to win as well. I felt so bad for them when they were picking teams and he said about being the fat kid in gym always picked last....that was me in high school! I was so glad they didn't get picked last! lol
I do like the old couple too and it scared me when he passed out. Hopefully he'll do okay from here on out.
As for the guy who had the surgery, I think you're right, he must be a grazer because his stomach was still tiny in the xrays. It kinda scares ya a little though, of course I have always known that this is a tool and not a "miracle".

I missed the program, too.
I usually am torn whether to watch or not, and I agree about the comment regarding their success at two years out. I hope the lessons they learned are something they keep up with after they leave the ranch. It is sooo true about life getting ahold of you later on, and then you have to keep up the fight.
I may tune in now that you have told me a little of what has happened so far....Not sure who any of the teams are yet, so I will just root for all of them.
