Good morning Illinois!

It's a bit soggy out there today..hoping it will soon dry up. I've got an appointment with my pcp this morning. When I went to fill mt last thyroid prescription he told Walgreens I need an office visit and labs. Had the labs done last week. Not much else on the agenda...gym tonight.

Hope your day gets dryer!

Not happy with my pcp visit yesterday.  He gets a lower bp than the weight loss doc but still not good.  So does he switch my meds?  No, he just adds another one.  I think my bp goes up just from having to take the pills.

Taxes went well yesterday and should finish them easily today.  I was so heavy and sick in '08 that i did not accept much work so there was not much to add and subtract.  Now just a matter of transfering the numbers and following the instructions on the forms.

Good Morning my IL friends!

I got up this morning with Tyler and got him off to school and once Mike got up, I went back to bed leaving him to take care of Austyn and get him off. Jacob stayed home today.  I didn't sleep good last night at all.  Mike was up playing games on his laptop in bed until 2:30, so it's not dark in the room so I don't sleep good.  He doesn't seem to care though, so I just slept in until 10am!  lol

Nothing going on here today, same old stuff.  I really wish this weather would dry out and get and stay warm now.  I am so tired of it being gloomy and chilly.

I finally talked to Katie yesterday at the Dr's office and she said that all my labs came back good.  I asked her about the D and she said, well it's on the very low end of normal.  To me, that's not "good"!  I am already taking an extra 1000IU a day and it's still on the low end.  I told her to send me all the labs so I can check them out.  I am so digusted with that office now and am very glad that I don't have to go bac****il next year!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful, warm and safe day today

I have been taking 10,000 IU of DRY Vitamin D-3 and it is SLOWLY bringing the levels up.  I am still at "low-normal" but they ARE rising.  The vitamin D-3 is the only one "we" can use, and if it comes in an oil-based capsule, we will not absorb it very well.

Before surgery it was (I think) about 125 which was kind of high and I was not taking anything.
Surgery was 10-27-06.
By 4-23-07 it was down to 26.
Last test on 10-10-08 it was up to 54.
"Normal" range at that time was 30-80, but I heard that they now like to see 80-120......Now that most doctors recognize that EVERYONE is low on this vitamin and the sun does not really improve blood levels as previously thought.
I need to schedule another set of bloodwork very soon.

My last set of labs which is when they told me to take a supplement my D was at 38.
I am thinking she said it was still in the 30's this time around.  I think I'm gonna up my dose of the D3 vitamin...
they are really no help at all with this stuff

I agree----they are really not much help and don't seem to understand the malabsorption part........I know that they gave me one month's worth of a prescription oil based softgel at 50,000 IU then told me to just take 1000 IU after that.  I also chew my dry tablets up before swallowing as they are coated.  They don't taste like anything so it is not bad.

I read EVERYTHING I can get my eyes on about vitamins and such.....Vitalady has been a big help.  She recommends a minimum of 10,000 IU a day DRY.  Some of the people I talk to take 50,000 IU per DAY!  She is a distal RNY though and has to take WAY more than I to keep her levels up but she does extensive research and shares it on her site and on the Yahoo Graduates Group.  That is where I learn a lot.  (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG/).  There is also a Graduates board here on OH and anyone over a year out can post to it.

Dawn, the dry D that I get from Osco does not have a coating on it. I know this because it leaves a white powder on my hands when I am putting all of my vits, pills etc in my daily containers every two weeks. I cannot remember the brand but they are in a dark brown plastic bottle with a yellow label on it. It is a well know company that sells in many stores. It comes in 2000IU a pill with 60 in a bottle.

edited to add that the brand is Nature Made.

Thanks for your reply to me yesterday,I did  call my Dr and got a prescription.  Today I got very dizzy in the shower, thankfully Ron was home, had to get help to bed, slept 3 hours and I feel  relief from the headache.  I ate some chili, weird choice but what I wanted. Hopefully I will be over this soon, it's a bummer.
