follow up on my Heartburn

I went to Dr Rosens yesterday. I told him about how I have been feeling and the heartburn. He sent me to the hospital for and Upper G I, and a chest x-ray.I have a hiatal hernia in my pouch.It is large enough that it's pressing on the diaphragm and causing pain when I breath! We believe from 2 months ago when I started taking the Crestor for the Cholesterol. It must have gotten stuck. I had stopped taking it when the heartburn started, I felt it was causing a upset in the pouch. Dr Rosen said I was most likely right. I seen the screen when they were doing the test, the barium stopped right where the band was.
It came back up and I got the worst heart burn from it. I had 4cc in my band and he took out 2cc's. If its not any better next month or sooner if I feel like its just not getting any better I an to go back and he will take out the rest and then I may have to have surgery to repair it!!!! Yikes!!! I told him the only way I was having surgery is if he cuts away the belly flap I have!! LOL

I was not eatting right trying to get rid of heartburn and to feel satisfied since food was going through so slow I was eatting too many high calorie soft foods to get full.. He said if I am very careful it can go back. We hope!

Karen, I am really sorry that you are having this problem.
Hopefully, with Dr R removing 2 ccs, it will get better and toy will not have to have another surgery.

Lisa me too. If I had to have surgery I would be up there alone. My girls have their babies and we just have never left them with anyone but each other. The thought of that alone has me doing everything stright from the book.

If it comes down to it, you will not be alone. You have a huge OH family that will take good care of you. Prayers heading your way that you don't have to go thru that.

Thank you, for your prayers! We do have a great support team on here. You are all a great new addition to my family! Dr R was really concerened and all but gave me the big brother lecture to the importance of letting him know right away if I felt it was not getting better. I really do believe we have some of the best after care out there!

Oh Karen I am sorry to hear you are having problems, I hope that you get to feeling better soon and don't need another surgery, unless it is to have a TT ,
Take care of your self this week so you are feeling good for the OH conference.

My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Lap Band on 03/02/07

If I am not feeling some improvements by the 12th I have to go see Dr Rosen before I go to the conference. I am so afraid of surgery because I had some issues that they were never able to figure out with the heart when I received the band! So I am really going to baby this toy. Like it is my very favorite toy ever and I would be devastated if I lost it!

Oh my! I dont know if that only happens to bandsters but that sure is frightening. No wonder it was so painful! I do hopr it gets resolved without surgery! Good luck and prayers for you.

Thanks, I am trying really hard to follow the rules but as the damage was happening I was going back to old habits and now I have to retrain myself! I think I was up to about 1 cup of food instead of the 1/2 cup!! I know I was a bad girl, I really thought the band was just loosing up, before the heartburn stated with a vengeance. Now I am paying the price for not paying attention to my body.

Karen, Please don't mess around with your heartburn. If the Dr wants to do surgey, it is for the best. I am so grateful that Dr. Sauri (his office is at Alexian Bros) refused to sign off on the cardio problems and let me have my lapband surgery first.
i was under the mistaken theory that if i was to lose weight I wouldn't need Heart Surgery. When in actuality. I would of died on the table.
