Help Me
I need help. I had my surgery on May 2007. Ten months after my surgery I met my now Finecee. Since then I have put back on about 25 pounds. I find myself falling back into the old habits. This is frustrating. I am the happiest I have ever been but I am disapointed with myself that I am slipping. I dont know what to do to get back on track. I have found that I tollerate the foods that I should stay away from.
I am angry that I went through the trouble of getting the the surgery and now not doing what I need to stay on track and healthy. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds as if you and your new fiance could use some face to face discussions with other post ops and/or a psychologist. I am pre-op and trying to overcome that idea of a regular balanced meal especially avoiding restraunts idea of a regular meal. Perhaps you should go to the OH conferance coming up in Rosemont and to the support groups at ABMC.
Support is the best place to start.
I'm sure you have heard the term "back to basics", but that is where you need to be. Get back to
Protein 1st
Veggie next
No drinking with meals (wait at least an hour)
No carbonation
No caffeine
No "white foods"---potatoes, bread, pasta (whole grains only).
Use a salad plate for your meals to keep your portions in check.
I'm sure your fiance' wants you to be healthy too and it is probably something you can do together!
If you can arrange it, please come to the conference in Rosemont this weekend. That will be a great place to get back into the swing of things.......
