Wednesday Roll Call
Hi everyone!
This is the end of my first week in retirement and I haven't gotten bored yet or been annoying to Kay. Actually we went out of town over the weekend so I really haven't figured out what retirement is like. It still feels like the weekend to me. I did cook dinner last night which got me a few points and did some cleaning--a few more points. Today looks rainy--good day for a nap!

Connie, I think you will find plenty to do in your retirement. Just remember no one says it has to be structured. I can figure out how to burn many hours a day on facebook and not feel guilty!
I am really enjoying my 6 weeks at home doing nothing. But I know it has an end. When I was unemployed for a year, I found plenty to do and really wished I did not have to go back to work but alas, the cats insist on a roof over their heads and 2 square meals a day. Sigh.
Today is my ortho appointment. Am anxious to see what the doctor says. I did not get to WalMart yesterday so hopefully today. Other than that, no special plans.

Hi Connie and Illinois members,
Connie, glad to hear your first week went well. I have a friend from my hospital who has been retired for a few years, she has so many hobbies, including cooking and gardening, that she tells us she hasn't had a bored moment yet!
Well, today is my second day back at work after my injury and knee surgery. I am on "light duty" for six weeks, so I can't do regular nursing work, but I'm on a number of committees in my hospital, so there are plenty of projects I can work on.
Yesterday was my first day back, and I was really excited. Today, I'm NOT so perky. After a month of barely walking, it was a rude awakening to be out of the house and productive for my normal 15 hour day! I'm thinking of it as a form of "shock" physical therapy!
Now I just need to get my food plan in order so I'm prepared to eat well while away from home. I was so tired last night I didn't make my lunch, and of course, I didn't have time this am. This morning I'm making a list of acceptable food choices for the day so I can have a plan when I go to the cafeteria for lunch. That should help.

Oh the life of a retiree........a nap ALWAYS sounds good to me!
I am working today, then the library, pick up David, then Liv then take them to Dakota so he can umpire and she can attend a Pitching/Catching clinic (if they are not rained out....). I will have to figure out something for dinner also.
I went to the game that David was umpiring last night and have to say how proud I am of him. It is the beginning of the 7-8 yr. old tournament, and one of the coaches was verbally abusive and David held his ground and almost kicked him out! It really IS too bad that grown ups can't behave like grown ups sometimes. David got many "atta boys" after the game by many of the parents.
I wish everyone a lovely day!

Doesn't it suck that the adults and especially the coaches of these kids treat the umps like that? Tyler has had 2 teams that he's almost kicked the coaches out of the game for being verbally abusive to him. It makes me crazy but I hold my tongue and don't say a thing!
Tell David that he's not the only one this happens to and I am proud that he held his own as well!!

I'm glad that you aren't bored in retirement yet Connie! lol
Today is more cleaning for me...it's the tv room today...I have to do windows, vacuum the couch really good, dust vacuum and just straighten up. I really want my house to be sparkling clean for the birthday party on Sunday...I have people coming that I want to impress for my own personal stupid reasons! LOL pathetic I know, but I still let people get to me way too much.
On a sad note, my neice goes to the Dr today to decide what day to do the early termination for her baby. The amnio results came back confirming the baby has Trisomy 13 only, but the heart and brain defects are incompatible with life. I will be at Alexian Brothers with them the day she delivers as they asked me to take pictures of the baby for them. It will be very hard, but I love them and will do it for them!

Went to the gym last night and going again tonight.
Ran an errand or two earlier.
Painted one wall in my kitchen this morning. I'm really liking it and am thinking about painting two more walls the same color.....not sure if I will, it may be too much green.
I'm trying to make my house flow....one room to the next. I'm thinking of putting the soffit color from the kitchen on the soffit in the dining room.....if I have enough paint I think I will.
It just started to rain here about a half hour ago. Nothing major just a light rain. Hope it doesn't last all night. Well, hope you all had a wonderful day!
