Kane Center patients
I still haven't heard from my insurance. This Wed. will be a week. I was wondering if at the Kane Center they had you start a liquid diet before the surgery. Also, are they going to tell me to lose weight before surgery? I know that it is probably recommended, but was it manditory?
After you got the go ahead from your insurance, how long was the turn around time on the actual surgery?

The liquid diet depends on the doctor and the patient as to what is needed. My DH had your same doc and he only needed to be on a liquid diet the day before for open RNY. No expected weight loss before either.
You can call your insurance or the center if you wish. In 2003 it took two weeks for Dave (BCBS IL PPO then and still for our insurance).

Sue, it will happen for you. It took me 5 days to get the OK, then we schuluded the surgery for 2 weeks later.
Have you talked to either Maggie or Michelle yet? Maybe you can call your insurance co and ask what the holdup is.

Maggie is who I have been dealing with, but she was out of the office as of Thursday till today. So, Maria called me back. I had left a message wondering about my paperwork, was everything there, did they need anything else. Maggie had told me that I could call the insurance company soon after she sent the paperwork. They could not contact for 14 days, but I could and they have found that when patients are involved the insurance comp. moves faster. When I asked Maria about calling, it seemed like that was something she thought I shouldn't do and if I was, I should wait a week before calling.
I just don't want to make a misstep, but I'm on a time crunch. I really want to do it by the end of Sept. with my school schedule. My co-teacher will be out for a week in Oct. and I do theater work in the fall, so postponing it after Sept. gets difficult. Just anxious
lol

I called the insurance comp this afternoon and they can see that paperwork came in, but it was sent to customer service, which is okay she said, but if it was sent to another office it would be processed faster. She gave me that fax #. I called Maggie and, of course, had to leave a message. I gave her the number and the information.
Has anyone else had problems getting hold of people in the insurance office? I never speak with someone right away. I have to leave message, which they return, but I wish they would just pick up the phone.

During the whole insr process I only got to speak to Michelle Once. They work really hard.. If they arent answering your call that means they're processing insr paperwork and that is a BIG job just for one patient.. Considering how many they work with,, it amazing to me that they have it all straight... I understand the frustration. But, leave the msg,, they are really good about getting back to you ASAP..
