Ugh! Insurance!
Tomorrow will be two weeks that my insurance will have my paperwork. I called last Tues. and found out that the paperwork had been sent to predetermination rather than precertification. She said that precertification would make a decision in 36-48 hours. I got a new fax # and left a message at the surgeon's insurance office. I called today and was told that the paperwork was still in predetermination, which will take 3-4 weeks for a decision. Then, that decision will be faxed to the dr.'s office, who will then fax it to the precertification office. I was told that my dr. didn't want to bypass the predetermination, so here I am stuck.
I called the insurance office at the surgeon's and left a message to see if there was an explanation handling the approval this way. Maybe this is a sure-fire way to get an approval. I haven't heard from them yet.
Have you heard of something like this?
