Hi my name is Lisa and I would love to talk to some other lap or realize banders.  Anyone post op for several years?  I will be post op for 1 year in late October.  Total weight loss to date is 78 LBS. Couldn't be happier and wouldn't change my decision for the world!  Lisa

Welcome Lisa!  I had my lap band put in on May 3rd, 2008 and reached my goal weight last month.  I've lost a total of 89 pounds and had to have the band replaced yesterday.  The original band was a small one and my stoma never shrank down to it.  I never needed fills and in recent times, still couldn't eat solids without bad reactions.  So they put in a larger band.  I'm home and resting now.  Look at my Saturday roll call for more on that.  It is great to have you on the board and glad to hear that your trip has been successful.  Thank you so much for your prayers and comments yesterday!  I felt them and still do.  We are all connected in this and you are an angel!  I just took some pain meds so I'm getting a little sleepy, but I look forward to being in communication.

Have a great weekend!

Hello

I have the Realize Band.  Although, I'm still relatively new to WLS ( I just had my surgery in March)..But I thought I would introduce myself any way.  I am starting to get a little discouraged.  I guess I am in Bandster Hell.  I haved little or no restriction and not losing much weight.  I'm starting to think I should have gotten RNY.  Well anyway I'm sure most bandsters have felt this way at some point.

Its nice to meet you.

Hi thanks for responding, I had my surgery October 24th and I am down 78Lbs.  I am very happy but still make some poor choices.  Do you know how much fluid is in your band?  Each person is different and it takes different amounts to hit their sweet spot, I am so close to mine. Maybe already there but I need to realize and not unmindfully eat when I am not hungry.  I think habits are killers to break and that has been very hard for me. Keep on working towards your goal never give up!  Good Luck here for you if I can help!          Lisa

Hang in there and work closely with your doctor to get the proper fills.  Lisa is right about hitting the seet spot.  Bander's hell is usually only from week 3 to week 6.  But the band won't work if it's too loose!  (Or too tight for that matter).  But you will have stalls and then they go away and the weight falls off quickly.  I didn't lose anything between December and February and then I lost an additional 36 pounds since!  Hang in there and you'll reach your goals.  Lisa said it all when she said it is hard to break old habits, but it does happen in time.
