PMS after surgery??
Okay, since surgery I have not been able to go back on my birth control pill and boy can I tell a difference! I have raging PMS for about the week before my period starts...even my kids notice the difference in me.
Is there anything that we can take or do for this? I don't go to my Dr for my annual exam until Dec. I have also noticed that my periods are much heavier and longer too...yuck!
I wish I could just get rid of the baby factory, cuz it's been closed now for 13 years! LOL

Monica, the good news I do believe for you is that with the heavier period times you are more than likely approaching pre menopause. But to qualify that - it is differenet for all women and start and length of time that you go through all of the pre menopause times is also different for all. What happened to me at about 45-48ish is that I saw a lessening after time of none of my usual symptoms of PMS like tenderness, length, heaviness of flow, crankiness etc. I was not on BC pills pre op so I cannot compare.
There are some herbal things you can try and I did a fast research on line for you. Now, what I will qualify this with is that you need to make sure that you are not taking a prescription drug that they will interfer with and ALSO herbals and supplements - of course have not been approved by the FDA. That being said you can try Evening Primrose or Plantain. http://www.gardensablaze.com/HerbEvePrimroseMed.htm & http://www.gardensablaze.com/HerbPlantainMed.htm
Also Shaklee has a supplement called GLS Complex http://www.shaklee.net/members/shopNowProd/20608
Hope this info helps.

Thank you so much Chris!! I will look into all of those as I do also take Zoloft (generic) to make sure it won't interfere.
My problem is that I was on BC pills since I was 18 and the only times I had ever been off was to have my kids...then before surgery. I tried them again after surgery for the effects of no cramps and making it lighter, but instead I pretty much bled for 3 weeks! Not worth it! lol

When you go to see your doctor ask him about Ablation. It's a procedure I was told about when I was having trouble with heavy periods (I'm only 38 so I doubt it's menapause). So I was put on BC and was told if this didn't help I could get Ablation. Not only is it an effective BC but for 70% of the women it rids them of persiods forever. I'm still thinking about getting it. That would be nice...no period.
