Can you say Ouchie?

Can you say - "ouchie"? I just got back from the poditrist an hour or so ago and I have a stress fracture in my right cuboid bone. 3-8 weeks in a soft walking cast. This is going to put a crimp in our style in the Dells from the 20th to past theThanksgiving weekend because we love to walk. I think the worst part is that I need to drive to work - that hurts the pocket book the most because I walk to work; all 1/2 mile each way.

Oh well as my mom used to say "it is far enough away from your heart - you will live".

Oh Christine, that just stinks!!!!  It's always something, isn't it.  

My mom had a few different stress fractures in her feet over the past couple of years.  Any chance they'll switch you to a walking boot at some point?  My mom was able to walk pretty well (faster than I) once she was in the boot.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation anyway!

Oh, Stephie maybe I phrased it incorrectly as I have a walking boot - you know the velcro type. It feels so much better to have it on. I do have my crutches out and ready to take with to the Dells. I just need to have Dave take them to a med supply place to replace the arm pit part as they are starting to split from age.

Now I lay me down to sleep in my recliner so to keep!  It is going to be an interesting few nights as I need to keep the cast on except when I shower. And what is even more interesting is that we have a formal night to attend  -  a black tie event on Friday.

Christine, sorry to hear about your ouchIe! Knowing you, I'm sure that you will be able to manage. You've got a lot of strength, positive outlook and help from your hubby.

Make sure to get some rest in between, as I learned the hard way!

.Christine,   ya have to wonder what Gods plan is to make you have a rough trip for the holiday.  You will look back and laugh at this. I am really sorry for you. This too will past.

Yeah it will pass. I think what will happen is that we will slow down a little and take a few more breaks during the day instead of us in continuance "go" mode.

I knew in the back of my mind that a stress fracture was a possibility but thought that I was being a baby with whatever pain I was going through.

Ouch sounds about right!!  I am so sorry to hear about this stress fracture!!    I hope that you heal very quickly!!  Keep up the positive attitude!!!

I am trying to be supportive and not try to solve your problem.  So hard being a man.  I am sure the walking boot is wonderful but cannot help but wonder if my favorite shoes would be of any use.  They run two hundred a pair as well though but were less than orthotics.  www.zcoil.com
