RNY 11/23..almost there

Hi everyone - I thought I would chime in to introduce myself.  I have my surgery next Monday on 11/23.  I have been on my pre-op diet for a week and it has not been easy.  I am hanging in there, however.  I am getting anxious to get to the surgery and have too much time to think right now - second thoughts, will my surgery go well, will I have too much pain, will I get through it unscathed, etc.

Hi there,

I have my surgery exactly a week after you, 11/30.  I'm having those same thoughts.  I've never had surgery before, so I keep thinking about the unknown.  I started the liquid diet today and I'm having a hard time with it, too.

Grats on your decision to have WLS . I am two weeks out from my VSG surgery with Dr. Joyce and am very happy about my decision to go forward with it. The pre-op diet does level off at about the week mark and your energy levels start to pickup. Keep in mind that the pre-op diet is preparing you for the first few weeks after your surgery also. It is a very tough phase because you can cheat but once you get that surgery it is a one way ticket to the losers bench.

I am on my preop diet too...I have been very irrated with everyone aroung me....1 more week!

Good luck and many wishes to you on the 23rd. I am sure everything will go just fine! I am new to this messaeboard and see that we are using the same doctor. I just met with Dr Joyce yesterday and had my first consult. I have my psych, cardiology and pulmonary evals all in December. Keep us posted on how you did and you will be in my prayers.

I am having the same thoughts.  But the only thing that I can focus on is today.  I am soooo excited today that I refuse to worry about that stuff right now.  My surgury is 12.7 signed all the paperwork yesterday.  So this dream has becoming VERY real.  AS is yours.  I wish you all the best!  You'll do great!
