Tuesday Roll Call

Hello everyone

I really hate this snow.  Most of roads I travel on to and from work are never plowed or salted (especially at 5:30 in the morning).  I hate driving in the snow and cleaning the snow off my car.  ICK!!!

I have some good news from work.  We are sooooo behind in work ever since the system conversion last year.  The higher up people have decided for morale and incentive we are now going to get bonuses!!! Yeah!!!  So depending on how well we do as a department we could get as much as $500 extra a month.  YEAH!!!!  So besides my raise/promotion last month starting next month I will have bonus pay too.

Nancy- I'm so glad you are home and doing well.  I wish you a fast and painless recovery.

Well back to work (so I can get that bonus) everyone have a nice and snowy day.

Good morning Crystal and IL friends.

I agree with  you Crystal. Snow and driving do not mix very well. I go to work early and have the same scenario.

Congrats on the good news with getting bonuses. I've never been at a company that gives bonuses.

Yesterday was a bad day for me. So tired and lots of pain. The repetitive hand movements were too much for me. Good news though, I got rid of my top part of my splint. I was having my splint adjusted and the therapist called my doc and asked if I could have the top part removed. He said yes! YAY!!! So now i only have the bottom part on.

I couldn't respond to everyone's messages yesterday, as I was way too tired and didn't go on line after work. My hands get so tired easily.

Well, time to go. Have a nice day everyone.

Hugs,
Lucy

Good Morning my friends!

I agree with Crystal and Lucy, I hate snow and driving in it and everything about it.  Even though I only drive to school, which is usually only 5 minutes away, if that, it's still a pain!

I haven't been around for a variety of reasons and have decided that I need support and have to make a point of coming here, if not every day, at least several times a week.

I have gained about 6 pounds in the last few months and I am working very hard on getting them, and the last 20 pounds, off of me for good!  School is going very well, but it is keeping me very busy with homework and such.  Kids are good, but wrestling season is upon us and it's the busiest sport Tyler does, so every Thursday, Friday nights and most of the days Saturday are spent in a school gym watching meets.  It does make it very hard food wise for me.  I just need to plan better and get to it!

Well I need to go and get ready for school, but I will be checking in much more often.  I miss you guys!!

Have a great day and stay warm and safe out there!

Monica

Ahhh 5 minutes...that would be so nice to get to work in 5 minutes.  Not that I have a long commute.  I drive about 20 miles one way to work or about 35 minutes.

I just wanted to say when I was going to school I gained weight too.  It's all of the reading, studying and homework.  When you do all of these things you are just sitting around so you tend to be less active.  I can't excersise while I read. I get motion sickness but some people will study while they are the treadmill.  Also, for fast meals try weigh****chers frozen meals.  I know they aren't the greatest thing but still better than fast food.  Good luck.

I have a 35 minute drive, mainly on a State route.  I was so thankful there was a semi ahead of me this morning and he was only doing about 35, never over 40 mph.  That was all the faster I felt like going too and happy the cars behind me weren't able to blame me for going too slow.  Many years ago I had a car slide out in front of me and I T-boned them and I have dreaded driving in snow ever since!  I have already told my boss I am taking a vacation day tomorrow as it will not be worth risking my life in a blizzard.  Maybe I can work on Christmas cards tomorrow.  All of you stay safe this week driving in this stuff!!!

Well I am enough further south that the snow hasn't hit me YET. Thankfully because this morning I travel to the hospital TO HAVE MY RNY SURGERY!!!!   (can you tell I am excited?)

I have the 11:00 surgery time and have to report at 9:30 so i will be heading out soon. Please keep me in your thoughts and send all quick healing vibes my way!

I hope to access a computer while in the hospital but if not, I will post when I get home on Friday.

Safe travels to everyone today.
I am going to ride and show my horse again.
I am going to live a healthier life.
I am going to be a positive role model for my daughter.

Good morning Crystal and the rest of Illinois!

I drive about 42 miles each way, but it takes about 35-40 minutes as it is mostly highway.  I had a scary morning as I literally slid out of town onto the first highway when my car would not stop at the first stop sign.  It was pretty scary as there was a school bus going one way and a car going the other, a few seconds sooner, and I would have been hit.  Then, at the next intersection with a stop sign, I also slid through and almost ditched the car.  There was a car coming that time from my left.  I almost turned around and went back home at that point!  If it is bad in the morning, I am taking a "snow day".  Even without pay, it is not worth it.

Congratulations Crystal on the bonus!!!!   We used to get one at Christmas, but that was done away with last year, along with no raises and shorter hours.   Things are not looking good at work.  The phone are way too quiet, and our repair business is at a crawl.

I need to stop at the store on the way home, but really dread it in the weather.  Oh well.....I will just have to take my time.

I am thinking of Stacy right now as she is probably arriving at the hospital.  At least SHE won't have to be out in the blizzard!

I think of each of you every day and am always wishing the very best to you all.

Tell someone that you love them!

Crystal - yea for bonus money.  Are you going to save it and spend on something special?  (Maybe your trip!)

Lucy glad you got part of your splint off.  Hope you feel better and better.

Stacy, saying prayers for a great surgery and quick recovery.  We are starting to move over on the losers bench for you!

I agree with the driving in bad weather.  I just take my time.  I have about a 20 min drive kinda across country, and like Crystal, it's not always the clearest when I leave at 6:30 am.

Been busy at work, so that 's good.  Not much other news.  Have a good one.

 Good Afternoon everyone!

Wel, it looks like we all agree on one thing -- driving in the snow is not what we want to do.  What the heck are we doing living in Illinois?  I ask myself that every year.  AT least I dont have to worry about it for another month.  Whew!  Dawn, I would have turned around and gone back home.  Life is too short.

I had a VERY nice sleep in my bed last night.  It felt wonderful to crawl under my covers.  My temperapedic mattress is so wonderful.  The cats were snuggled up tightly. No having to get up early  Bliss.    I did take a shower and wash my hair this morning so I am squeaky clean.  It is good to have clean hair.  I am making it around the house fairly well.

Crystal, congrats on the bonuses!  Lucy, glad half the splint is off.  Tanya, glad recovery is going well with your DS.  For our other post ops, keep on hanging in there.  The reports are great and it sounds like you are keeping things under control.  Monica, it is hard to balance school, work and family life.  I admire you for doing it all.  That is very stressful.  For our road warriors, drive safely.  Stay home tomorrow if it is too bad outside.  Your family needs you more than your job does!
