Did any of you have to pay a large sum out of pocket to have your surgery?

It will depend on what your company has set up as your deductible and out of pocket expenses. My dedutible is $1500 and out of pocket is $2000, so, did have those expenses to cover. You may want to double check with BCBS and see exactly what your ded and out of pocket costs are for sure.  If you haven't had surgery, you will also want to check to make sure your company's policy covers weight loss surgery.  Good luck.  georgie

I am scheduled for RNY, Gallbladder and Hernia repair all at the same time.  I heard someone state they paid 6K out of pocket with BCBS of IL with thier WLS. 

I will check and see what it is.

Yeah, every plan is different.  Having all those together, you'll prbly make your out of pocket, deductible right away!  LOL  Georgie

Not sure if you have HMO or not but I have BCBS IL HMO and don't have to pay anything other than my $10 co-pays to the doctors. 

so i read this and called them to doubel check, i have a 1500 ded but my employer pays 1250 of it.They told me, once met they cover wls 100%, i asked about the out of pocket and she told me something about what it meant but i forgot already-lol

Every employer sets up their policy differently.

I had to pay $20 for the initial consult, $20 for the psych, and $100 for the hospital.  Nothing else.

Finally found out that I met part of my deductable and the rest is what I owe.  My ded is 1500.00 I will not pay more than that.  YEA!

Check to see if you have to pay any co-insurance on top of that deductible. A lot of plans cover 90/10 or 80/20 with you paying that last 10% or 20%

I paid about $2000 with my deductible and co-insurance.
