Monday Roll Call
Hey Dawn, I LOVE grilled food, too. I was a diehard charcoal user until about 3 years ago. I bought my first gas grill so I could keep it close by on the deck, and sneak out during the winter when the weather was decent, allowing me a little longer grilling season than with charcoal. Well, I never went back to the Weber! and it surprised me. I am on my second grill. The thing I dislike about it is it can have flare ups (read fire! LOL) when I try to cook too quickly. Especially fattier meats like steak, hamburgers. Pork chops and chicken (skinless) are good. But I've learned to adjust the heat and calm down, allowing the hamburgers 15-20 mins instead of my ususal 10 mins! I've been grilling already this little warm spell, and plan on fitting in a meal tonight before it starts raining tomorrow and onward!
Chloe wanted to see AIN Wonderland...I was lukewarm, but was going to take her. Her mom said she wouldn't mind going, so I got out of it!
HOpe all is well with you.

The movie was "ok". Our theater only has the 3-D version and it is VERY visual. The plot was ok, but took a back seat to the "look" of the film. I think in 2-D, it would not be any great shakes.
I DID like that it is rated PG. I must be getting old, but I am getting SO tired of the language in some movies and TV....let alone the sex and violence.
OLD......me!!!!! I never thought THAT would happen!!!! hehehehehehehe

Thanks Chris,
I wondered about that a little. CHloe will be 10 this week (!) and is pretty mature for her age. Her grandpa bought her a book about the moving with pictures and chapters on all the characters. She said, she'd read the whole book, even the captions and she can't wait to see it. (I thought it might actually be scary for me! LOL)

Lynn, sorry to hear about your SIL, but you are right it is a great community, what a mess, our son is also a carpenter!! i remember having the thought also,, what will be my last dinner!! it truly wont be , but is seems that way now, your day will be here before you know it!, hope everyone had a great day, it is getting warmer, think spring!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the good thoughts. We ended up going to the mexican rest. down the street from us and it was really good. I had chicken tacos. I realize it won't be my last meal but you're right, it seems that way now. I'm glad I'm having the surgery this time of year because when it's warmer out, I'll be in the yard all day and that will really help. Thanks again, and hope you have a good day.

Hello all!
Hope everyone is well. I went bra shopping and jeans shopping today. I swear I have lost all my weight in my chest - ugh. I did go down a size in jeans and really do not want to spend the money - plus size stores are so expensive. I have never been to Salvation Army or Goodwill - do they really have large sizes? Or are there other second hand stores that have large sizes? When I was at Avenue I was checking out their shoes and I thought of the people that have size 12s. Avenue has pretty cute dressy/casual shoes and sandals - they do not have a huge selection, but I thought they were reasonable. Worth it to check it out if you have an Avenue store or online.
I am hoping for a good loss this week - tomorrow is my weigh in - I would like to hit the 100lbs lost. I think that I will be a little short though - probably next week.

Both Goodwill and Salvation Army in Rockford usually have a decent selection of plus sizes. Treasure Galore on Sandy Hollow is another place to look.
My FAVORITE consignment shop is "Twice is Nice" in Freeport on Stephenson Street (downtown). They have a lot of really nice things really inexpensive. I bought tons of stuff there as I was "downsizing". My husband did not even yell at me either. I would come home with a HUGE bag for an average of $30.00.
Hi, all! ~ I've made progress on my "get to bed by 10 p.m." goal, but, like I said, it's really cut into my virtual life. I am also trying to spend more one-on-one time with my child, so after work, the time-sucking computer is fairly well off-limits.
But, I'm starving for OH info. (I am still reading WLS books before sleep, however. Also, I'm adding a Sunday OA meeting into the mix, too.)
Perhaps my best bet would be to have one night a week that is my "online time." Maybe Wednesdays. Try to catch up on everything once a week. And... maybe on Sundays after dinner. Hmmm. That's when I'm now 'supposed to be "cooking for the week." OK. I think it's going to be the weekly visit. And, then, maybe early Sunday mornings, if (when) I get my act together enough.
Beside trying to fold computer-time back into my life, I've been trying to reduce my daily calorie intake for the past week. Whoa. This is hard. It seems my set-point (I'm pre-op) is about 2,500 to 3,000. (Can you believe that I am losing weight on this? Down to 311 from 324.) And while I'm eating more healthily, controlling portions, and finding ways to stay on the wagon for dinner-time, I'm still eating too much. Just too dang much.
It's scary to me to eat less. So, I'll take it one day at a time. No more food tonight. (YEA, I've overcome late-night eating ---- but probably b/c I'm ASLEEP!) And, tomorrow, I'll set up 450-cal meals and 100-cal snacks. I think my snacks are too high-calorie now and dinners can get out of control still. I wish LoseIt! had six "meals" and a way to plan the meals rather than just record the meals. Perhaps I could enter the planned meals for the week and then adjust the log to reflect the acutal food consumed. Like a planned and actual budget, using the same log. We'll see. I'll figure it out.
Despite the challenges, I have to claim that I am still progressing. Maybe two steps forward, one back... but I am changing. Really --- I'll call eating "only" 1/2 a gyros sandwich a HUGE success for me. For the past 15 years, I'd chew up an entire gyros. Next step: leave the pita behind, and eat only 1/4. I suppose gyros meat might be too fatty post-op. Still learning all that. Maybe I could create a "gyros salad" with tomatos, onions, yogurt sauce and a few slices of the meat.
Also coming up:
I have to mix up my first double-protien milk soon.
Start switching away from cream and toward evaporated skim milk in my coffee (which I have to start switching from caff to decaff as well).
I've "passed" my psych eval, and the tdoc has approved me. I have one nut class left and the pre-op class. I have to meet with the surgeon. My own psychotherapist is suggesting I have more psychological testing, including projective, but I really think that's overkill (plus, too expensive). I do believe I understand my readiness for WLS well enough. The new OA participation will support my effort to overcome overeating.
So, I'm starting some of that nesting ... I found nice mini-silverware (called appetizer fork, etc.) and a mini-measure (like a shotglass with measurements, including ounces, listed on side) along with some ramekins at Crate & Barrel. So, starting to down-size. Also: found a nice "sippable" water bottle at Target -- it's Thermos brand and has a top that's not a "straw," but is perfectly designed to release the attached cap, w/c springs back, and sip, sip, sip (see, I'm learning!). :)
