Hello everyone!
I'm not sure where everyone is from, but I'm from Fairview Heights, IL.
This is my 10th day since surgery. Still sore. I actually had to have a
hiatal hernia fixed plus my gastric all at the same time. Then I didn't want
to wake up in recovery. But I came too, and fiesty as ever.
I've lost a total of 32 lbs so far. I'm very proud of my 32 lbs.

Thought I would join in on your conversations. My Doctor was Richard Follwell
out of St Alexius hospital in St. Louis called New Start.

Good Morning and Welcome.

I grew up in East.St. Louis, and still return to your area a few times a year. I am in Streator, Il, about 200 miles up I 55.

My surgery was at Alexian Bros. in Elk Grove Village, a suburb of Chicago.

Please do join us on our daily roll calls. That is where we really keep up with each other. We are here for your support, we will try to answer whatever questions you have, or at least try to. Most of us are post opped, a few are waiting. But we are here for you.

There are a few gals in your area that come on this forum, Dee is one. She is from Wood River.

It is nice to meet you, let us know more about yourself.

Huggers,
LISA

 Welcome Sharyn

I am Nancy and live in North Central Illinois up by Lisa in the town of LaSalle.  I had my RNY 2 years ago.  Time sure does fly!  Taste does change and you will find yourself eating foods you never dreamed that you would like.  My pouch now LOVES spicy food!

We are a friendly group and have meet and greets several times a year.  Then next one is next Saturday in Itasca which is up by Ohare airport.  If you feel like a road trip, come join us!

As Lisa said, we have a daily roll call and many try to post, but some of us dont make it every day.  That is ok too.  We are a close group and are here for each other whether it is a WLS problem or a life problem.

Glad that you joined us.  Come back when you can!

Thanks Lisa and Nancy,
I will try to make role call, is that any time all day long you can respond? If that's the case I can handle that one. But if it's a certain time probably not.
I have heard of Streator IL. But then again I work for AAA, so I've heard of alot of places. Haven't necessarily been there, but I talk to people every where.
That's so weird that your stomach loves spicy food. I have a hard time calling my stomach a pouch, I don't feel like a kangaroo, at least I can't hop yet. It's just a stomach cut wayyyyyy back in size.
I hope your Alexian brothers did much better at meeting your needs than mine did. Luckily the surgeon was good, can't say to much about his staff. Ok honestly I can't say anything about his staff. That's how bad it was.
I do have one question, how long is it before I can actually swallow a pill? They taste so nasty yucky, gross, blechy, That's my only complaint so far. is the pills.
An I'm still having problems finding someone who cares thiamin/b1 100 mgs. Any suggestions?
Have a wonderful Saturday!
Sharon

For your thiamin, try GNC health stores, and as far as your pills go, I had to crush them for 30 days. I did cheat a bit, about the 23rd day, I couldn't stomach the powder any longer. See if your GP can give you some liquid scrips for the time being.

I was swallowing pills before I left the hospital as I could not tolerate opening the meds --- Ugh!   My surgeon gave me the OK for anything not larger than an M and M right from surgery.  Today I take pills of all sizes.  I have only had a pill get caught twice.  And both times it was in the throat.  My surgeons office sells the Thiamine but I just bought some at my health food store.

As for roll call, I usually don't make it on until evening.  Others post throughout the day.  Someone, anyone usually takes the imitative to start it if no one else has.  It can start as early as 5 or 6 am and continue on.
