Dave Update
Got out of the doc's office a couple of hours ago (went out for Mexican food first before coming home).
Total left knee replacement = an ouchie for Davey. he is bone on bone. I saw the films. He had some fluid drained off of the knee and a cortizone injection to help relieve the discomfort if that is possible. He goes back in 2 weeks for a follow up. The doc thinks that with him over exerting himself at church back in early October is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I will keep you posted.

I was bone on bone for 8 years and miserable. I cannot believe what a wonderful difference that total knee replacements make! I kept putting off the surgery for fear it would be worse or recovery would be awful. It was the best thing I ever did! At my 3 week post op visit I was asking my ortho doctor how soon could I do the other knee! This will be the best thing that has happened to Dave. Positive vibes being sent his way!

Hi Chris (and dave)
I second what Nancy said. I had to have a partial replacement when I was 56 (I think!) 2 years ago. (I think!) Anyway, after the initial surgery and you get up and going, and into therapy, you may be stiff for awhile, but you don't have that constant pain...and it is so noticable that it is gone, right after surgery. Get it done and over so you can move on and enjoy walking again! I was prbly going to have to have my other one done at some point, but with my wt. loss, I think I have successfully put that surgery well into the future! YEAH!
Hope all goes well.

Dave wants to get it done before the end of the year. So we are scrambling to get other medical things done also. He threw a kink into things yesterday and said he wants to have his colonoscopy done before that also, YIKES I do not think that will be possible because of doctor schedules.
