Dave Update
Sorry to hear this...I am having total left hip replacement on Dec 13th...I am so nervuos about it because of the way my heart rate drops
when I have surgery...
I will be having the left knee done after this all heals up..... hopefully during the time fram that the deductible is covered. I had the steroid shot in the left knee 2 weeks ago. Dave best of luck and I hope the shot gives you some comfort.

Hope to see you both tomorrow at support group, I have a 4 o'clock with Dr R.

you will both be missed! I do understand sitting. I have trouble getting up to walk after sitting too long... thanks too for the info on 355. I tend to stay home alot but I have to get clearance from Dr R to have the hip replaced....the doc just wants to make sure all is working correct so there are not any complications! Take care and maybe I will see ya both in December!

Hugs and positive thoughts for your upcoming surgery! I was not under general anethesia for my surgery. They did a spinal block and then twilight sleep. In fact it was such a light sleep that at one point I woke up during surgery to hear them sawing on my leg!
I did not feel a thing but it sure was a weird moment when I realized that that sawing noise was them sawing on ME!
It was the best thing I ever did. I could not believe that the pain was gone so fast. I was up walking the day of surgery. The recovery is a little slow -- about 5 weeks but as long as you do your physical therapy both with the therapist and twice a day at home, your recovery will go smoothly and fast. Your leg is more stiff that painful after surgery. I cannot even tell it is an artificial knee in my right knee and within 6 months all discomfort or lingering stiffness was gone completely. My left knee is taking a little longer for the stiffness to go away. The doctor tells me it can take a year. It has been 11 months and only gets stiff when I sit too long and hold it in a bent position.
I am so happy I did this. I highly recommend it and am so sorry that I put it off so many years. I was so afraid that I would not want my other knee done after the first one but I actually asked the doctor at my 3 week appointment how soon I could get my other knee done as the surgical knee was actually free of pain and the left knee was really killing me!
You will do fine. Good luck!
