I took mine at first and then stopped.  I have to read up on how important COq10 is.  I take other vitamins based on research I did but I need to do more reading.

Lori,

Why did your doctor recommend you take this? Have you gone on GNC's or The Vitamin Shoppe's websites to review what their cost would be to purchase the item? I would research if there is another supplement that is an equivilent and if it is less expensive. I just reviewed my access to Shaklee and can tell you that the cost from a distributor for the product would be $28.55 for a 30 day supply.

Here is a cut and paste from the info that I have access to:

CoQHeart®
30 softgels / 30 servings CoEnzyme Q10, Resveratrol and more.

Strengthens the Heart Muscle*

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supports energy production in your cells. Studies show that as we age we have less and less of it in our body. CoQ10 is especially important to heart health. A healthy heart, which never stops to rest, relies on CoQ10's energy support.*

The uniqueness of Shaklee CoQHeart comes from its highly bioavailable delivery. Your body more readily accepts the softgel delivery form used in CoQHeart than it does solid powders. So you can get more out of your supplement.

Also included in CoQHeart's combination of ingredients is the powerful antioxidant resveratrol - believed to be the most beneficial antioxidant compound in red wine.* CoQHeart contains 640 mcg of resveratrol, equivalent to the amount of resveratrol in one glass of red wine.

I can also email you other PDF files regarding the product from Shaklee.

I have read and been told that we should not take anything in softgel form.....if it is oil-based, it is not absorbed?

Tell someone that you love them!

I have read this also. It all depends on the doctor and the dosage for their patients. Take for example with me it was recommended for me to take Omega 3 with is a soft gel. I spoke with the dietician at Dr R's office and she said I would not have a problem absorbing them and would still benefit from them.

Chris,
They recomend that everyone take these. Whether you have the lap band, VSG or RNY. It's not just certain patients.

Lori, well some would have us popping pills every other minute for this or that. The one thing that my doc (who is an internist and cardiologist) recommends is that I take a baby aspirin and Omega 3 daily. I do not take the baby aspirin because I can never co-ordinate my pill taking time with food. To be perfectly honest with you my doctors have never mentioned COQ-10 before.

Thanks, Chris..Thats what I am thinking. I did purchase enough  for the next month or so, but I really doubt I will purchase any more unless I can find reasonings behind them wanting everyone to take these.

Hello,
I took them for the 6 months after surgery as required.  My nurse felt that they really helped with your heart health after such a major surgery so I figured it couldn't hurt.  I stocked up when Walgreens had a buy one get one free sale so it wasn't too bad.

Lynn

PS  Just be glad when you're done with the potassium, that's the worst.  You'll be happy to take the CoQ10!
