Monday Roll Call
Good Morning, IL!
Sounds like everyone had a wonderful weekend. So did I! My get together went wonderfully...Could the weather on Saturday have been any BETTER???? It was nice because people were able to wander out of the house, onto the deck and visit and get fresh air outside. Lots of good food and good friends! Roxie, my doxie, was so busy. I think she literally sat on every person's lap. She was a hit. However it was funny, she didn't let me get too far out of her sight. I had to run back to the den to get some batteries, and she was sitting on a lap. When I left the room, she hpped down and showed up in the doorway, then followed me back to the family room and jumped back up on my friend's lap. Pretty funny!
A freind brought me THE MOST Wonderful Irish cream. I'm on a hunt looking for it, but don't know it I'll find it around here. If you are in to great tasting liquore, give it a try it is called, "Fulton's Harvest Pumpkin Pie" all I can say is WOW. According to online stores, it looks to run under $12 bucks! I may have to travel up by Orland to see if I can find it. If any of you peeps around Orland find it, let me know where!!
Not much going on the rest of the week. Have a good one.

Dang. Monday already!?
Getting really excited bout my pre-op exam on Thursday. Kinda a bit of a bummer, I can't have ANYTHING after 11 PM the night before until after the first round of tests. Not even water.
Working my pre-pre-op diet hard. Not going too bad...so far.

What kind of exam? Especially one that requires you to be NPO before hand.
Just keep in mind that it takes at least 90 days to create new habits. Also start the habit of not eating and drinking with meals and 30 before/after. This is not all doc's protocal but it is for many out there.

OH...just me being maybe too cute? LOL
I have my pre-op exam on Thursday at St. Vincent, Carmel, IN. So, if I wasn't clear, I can't eat after 11 PM our time on Wed evening because they will be doing stomach Xrays and I assume other fasting blood work in the morning. Whew...I get lunch then go to my Surgeon's office for their side of my physical exam. Once all the results come back I will be able to schedule my surgery and based on what I have heard, I could be on track to have it on October 14...MY BIRTHDAY! No guarantees but we will see.
I'm a cyclist (Did 18 miles today before it got dark
) but up to this point my Kcal intake to support my cycling and still loose a pound a week has been in the 4000 Kcal range. In that regime I tended to get more carbs than I expect after my sleeve. (Carbo loading is standard practice before big rides.) I generally burn about 1400-1500 Kcals an hour on the bike and up till now I average about 9 hours a week. Sooo...
I have dubbed my first progression into my new eating style as my pre-pre-op diet. I'm dropping my Kcals down to between 1800 & 2400 a day depending on if I ride or not. At the same time I am dropping the % of my Kcals from carbs. I've been on this for about 6 days and will continue that until 1-2 weeks prior to my surgery date.
My surgeon doesn't require any pre-op diet but I plan to do one myself anyway. I may not be super strict on it but I hope that by my efforts right now that I will have a better chance of getting real close to 1200 Kcals/day in that period and tightening up on the carbs as part of that process. My personal belief is that by doing this I will reduce the size of my liver. It may not be drastic but every bit helps.
Making sense now?

Evening Everyone!
Well, I am now back to working 8 hours a day. I survived my first day and my back is not doing too bad. However, the day could have gone better. Our computers totally went whacky today and did not cooperate at all! Plus it froze you out of the system every 2 or 3 calls. And on top of that, not one call was easy. Everyone had "special" issues. Sigh. Hope today was the worst day of the week.
Chris, I am glad you had a great weekend. It sounds like it was a wonderful time.
Lisa, your weekend sounds like fun as well. I would have loved to have seen the 9/11 exhibit. That would have been a sight to see but perhaps overwhelming at the same time.
Crystal, I agree, I could use a month off. This weekend went by way too fast. Nothing better than being home and reading, talking to friends, playing on the internet and playing with kitties. I hope Charles feels better soon.
Nicole, it sounds like you have your plate full. First of all, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. That has to be extremely sad and very unsettling in a lot of ways. You are so nice to step in and help out like you are doing.
I too would have trouble with a 5 year old putting in such a long day. But, unless he comes home totally exhausted, I would say leave him be. Good schools are hard to come by and as he gets older, you will be glad to have him in such a school. It is too bad that the bus commute becomes so long. Is there anyone who can pick him up after school so he did not have to ride a bus home? That might solve part of the problem. It might be worth paying a day care provider to do so.
Georgie, I am glad your party went well. It sounds like Roxie had a great time! It is funny that she wanted to follow you when you left the room but you are her security blanket.
Don, you will make it waiting through your tests. The time will go by fast and then you can eat and get something to drink. It is not as bad as it sounds. Good luck!
