Support Groups?

I am a self-pay who will be having a VSG in Mexico sometime this year.  I am wondering if there are any support groups in the Northern, Northwest, or Western burbs of Chicago that are open to anyone?

Okay, thanks for the reply.  I have been to a few of their seminars on bariatric surgery but they didn't really talk abuot after-care or support groups all that much.  I will call their office and inquire. 

There are people here on the board that are patients of the Kane Group. Steven & Lisa come to mind. My DH is also but he goes to my support group.

Thanks. I have been to several of their informational seminars about bariatric surgeries but even though they are the closest group to where I live, I cannot afford them as a self-pay but good to know they have a support group I can be a part of.

Yes, there are monthly support group meeting available for the various types of surgeries. You can check out the Suburban Surgical Bariatric Center website.  They are part of the Kane Center.  There is a $10.00 charge for each support group.  It is a great group of folks.  The group is conducted at their Hoffman Estates offices-->Right off of Rte 59 & the Kennedy.
