Saturday Roll Call

What is going on in your corner of IL today and tomorrow? Before we leave Galena we are taking a walking tour on Main St with General Grant. There is a guy in period dress that will walk with you on a group tour and will tell you the history of the area. It is an hour long. Before that we will have the car packed, we also want to go to Galena Canning Co. for some brown mustard & corn relish that is fantastic. Then home sweet home and to a graduation party this evening across town.

No big plans for today. I want to work on a rug that I want to take to Yorkville tomorrow. I have about 1 foot to go, then fringe it. I also want to clean the rec room and office. Maybe get outside and put some weed killer on the driveway.
Hugs,
LISA
Not much going on here! I have the back door open and windows. The air outside is so fresh and wonderful!
Yesterday was a wonderful day at Six Flags. The kids could not have asked for better weather. Plus not many guests there so the line wait was relatively short. I did alot of reading and chatting. I ended up seeing some people I know so I had fun talking. Talking is a favorite sport of mine.
Last night my hubby and I met some friends at a restaurant in Mchenry called the Gambler. They have wonderful cheeseburgers starting at $2.75!! By the time I added some extras I think I paid $4.00 My friend commented on how I ate just the meat and next time ask for no bun. I explained it is a mental thing for me. I still like putting the "burger" together but when I eat, just take off the bun.
Today is not much. Just doing the typical house chores and reading.
Take care all
Debbie
The burger place sounds great. You will eventually have a little of the bun as we do. We just eat slowly and will have about 1/4 or the burger. I then bring home the left overs and heat the different parts of the sammie slowly so it does not dry out and it makes great left overs. I heat most of my burger left overs in a slow nonstick pan with a vented lid.

Hi all!
Today we went to the Bookworm for knitting. It was nice to see friends I haven't seen for a while. I love the atmosphere at the Bookworm. It is a cafe that serves delicious made to order food, including gluten free, low sugar (agave syrup), great coffee and other delicious treats. I had part of a low sugar scone and it was yummy.
We are going to cook out hamburgers tonight. I've been craving a good hamburger.
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

On a side note the walking tour was fantastic. The guy actually looks like Grant. He gave so much of the history behind Grant's time in Galena before and after. History of the downtown area etc. The building of the structures, fires that have taken place, the transition to brick buildings, the type of brick used, floods and the current businesses. He was so down to earth, welcomed questions and had a great sense of humor. We highly recommend the tour.
