I'm back!!
Hi everyone!!!
Well first of all I want to say that you guys are all THE BEST!!!!
...thank you so much for all your responses to my post and all the e-mails I received!
I know without a doubt that I couldn't do this without all of you. This past week has been rather difficult for me and you all have certainly helped me through it. (((hugs)))
Ok so here's the story about my pre-op testing journey. We got to hubbys parents place a little later than we had expected and once there of course everyone wanted to do the "visiting" thing. Once we settled in and started talking about my surgery and stuff they told us that the hospital wasn't just 45 minutes away but almost an hour and half (oops! hubby miss calculated
lol )...because it was that far we weren't able to make the support group meeting
...I was so disappointed but there was no way I could handle another 3 hours of driving after all the driving we just did. We got up early the next morning and made the drive to the hospital. Every thing there went pretty smoothly....paper work...blood work...(no blood gas test
)...guess I lucked out on that one lol...chest x-ray...nutritionist came in and went over a few things...ekg...respiratory testing (that one made me laugh
...ok ok I don't have anymore air
I can't push anymore out..."keep going, keep going, keep going"
....
LOL) Then another doc that will also be caring for me besides my surgeon came in. He was really nice...talked to me a little bit about my health history and did an examination on me. He checked my breathing and then pushed around on my upper and lower tummy. Well...this is where things get a lil freaky
...he pushed on my upper stomach where my liver and gallbladder are and I thought he was going to push them right through my throat. He said, "does that hurt??" I said no it doesn't really hurt but its very sensitive" He didn't say anything about it so I thought all was well. I wondered about that area for a while now though because I even complained to my pcp that it felt like something was stuck under my rib cage at times and it would get numb there from time to time. So everything seemed fine and we got the go ahead to head home. Once we got home there was a message on our machine from Stephanie and she said the doc wants an additional test done on me...my liver feels enlarged
...they couldnt do an ultra sound on me today because the tech was off due to bad weather (which is another story in itself
lol)
Anyway, bottomline is I have to have an ultrasound done here in Quincy on Thursday...if that doesn't work out I have to go for a CT...worse case she said I might have a tumor (in best Arnold Schwartsinager voice..."it's not a tummmmma"
...depending on what they find out I may have to post pone the surgery and go for a liver biopsy
...so we'll see what happens. I'm trying my best to stay positive but as I said to my hubby..."baby NOTHING comes easy for me so I'm used to this"
lol
All in all it was a looooong trip but it's one step closer to surgery and getting all this behind me.
I hope everyone had a great couple days and thank you again so much for all the support.
~hugs~
