Fat Day
Today was a fat day. I feel fat and bloated. I didn't go to the rec(school gym) and I don't really feel guilty because I'm usually good about going. I didn't eat that much, half of a ham sandwhich, half a cup of spaghetti and a sausage. I drank tons of water. The scale is reflecting my fat day too. Maybe I'm holding water from the salt in the ham... maybe it's just a fat day.
I'm at work right now, drinking my ice water in a bottle and pondering why they are paying me right now. My job is practically useless. I haven't done anything productive for the university all night, except handing out the key to the practice room in North. Thats it, key handling. I'm not complaining by any means if they want to pay me 8 dollars to hand out keys and post on this board, it's fine with me.
I'm feeling a little hungry right now, and I have a variety of sugar free bars with me, but I don't think I'm going to eat one. The sugar alcohol in them has started irritating my stomach and giving me a funny taste in my mouth. Oh Joy...
My six week doctors appointment is supposed to be on Thursday, but I have class all day! I tried to reschedule for Friday or Wednesday, but the doctor only see's people on Thursday. I'm going to have to call back tomorrow and see if maybe I can come another day and see the other surgeon.
Bread and pasta????? That is stuff you don't want to eat to loose weight.Especially if your not going to work out.I had a smoothie then i ate 2 pcs of 98 % fat free turkey then later lowfat cottage cheese with tomato's in it(it's the only way i can eat cottage cheese) Then for dinner i ate some grilled salmon with lemon squeed on it. 3 bites of a dry potato.
that was my day.i went to rehab on my knee did the nustep for 2 miles at 112 steps a min.and walked 1/2 a mile then did a bunch of stuff on my knee to make stronger.i'm going to curcit training this morning.I won't eat any crap i am focused to loose weight and that's it.I workout everyday but sunday.that's my family day we go somewhere.like to a mall so i can be with them and still get walking in.I have been fat for a long time.i'm gonna make this work.i'm seeing weight come off almost everyday.but i won't eat any bad stuff. When i get to my goal i will have a little fun again.Till then i'm on a mission!! P.s. I hear skinny people have alot better sex,That's what i'm working for. Ha Ha
Jeff..ixnay on the atfay eefray urkeytay!! Fat free=higher carbs. Remember, you are going to pass lots of the fat...but the part that absorbs carbs is still there, waiting to take you down! LOL IMHO, and I'm not an expert by any means....but youre not eating enough. Specially if youre working out every day, and hitting it hard. Add some eggs, cheese, tuna, etc. Also, you do need veggies. Complex carbs help your brain and lungs function efficiently..and theyre also needed for RBC production. Eat a banana...carrots...maybe stay away from celery (stringy) although its AWESOME with peanut butter on it and a great high protein snack!! Squeeze cheese on celery (not my first choice..but you could do worse, too! ) peanut butter on apples.....ok..now I have to get some peanut butter....Anyway....A fun idea is to spread cream cheese on a piece of ham and roll it up around a pickle. Guess you could do it with chicken or turkey too
Think outside the box. Dont forget that you can have an omelet...add cheese, ham...bacon...etc!! Deviled eggs...tuna salad in a tomato..etc. SHRIMP!! (FOOD OF THE GODS, NO?) Get creative! Mix it up!! You wont miss cake and chips at all. (mostly
Eat a salad...put boiled egg, cheeses, and turkey on it...and dont use fat free dressing!!! LOL Watch your portion size, thats all!!
(stepping down off soap box)
Youre doing great!!!

OK SO I GUESS I HAVEN'T DONE ENOUGH RESEARCH OR I AM JUST REALLY STUPID. KATHY JUST SAID YOU DONT HAVE TO EAT EVERYTHING FAT FREE. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EMAIL AND EXPLAIN THE EATING PROCESS AFTER SURGERY. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF EATING EVERYTHING IN SITE BECAUSE MY THOUGHT IS SFTER SURGERY I CANT THIS AGAIN, LET ME REPHRASE MYSELF I DONT EAT EVERYTHING IN SITE JUST MAYBE SOME STUFF I WOULDNT NORMALLY EAT ALOT OF. SOMEONE HELP ME!! NANETTE
Nanette, feel free to email me with any questions. Depending on the type of surgery you have, fat is mostly pooped out;) I mean, you actually see it in the potty. Sorry for the graphic-ness..but its true. Also, fat free, 99% of the time means higher carbs...flavor comes from fat...take that away and you have to add flavor somehow, and it usually comes in the form of carbs. You will be able to eat almost everything you eat now, even after surgery. You will eat smaller quantities, and with the right guidance, make better food choices. IE fruit/veggies instead of cake. That kind of thing. I still eat fast food occasionally....my favorite food pre op was Hooters shrimp..3 MILE ISLAND style
I can still eat it now..but I only eat one order and I'm satisfied...and its without the fries. Catching my drift? For me, the goal was to be NORMAL...not counting all the time, being afraid of food, etc. However, that is ME and certainly doesnt work for everyone.
Again, always feel free to email me if I can help you in any way

Don't feel like the lone ranger, I've been feeling just like you. And don't worry about what you're eating at this point. We're less than 2 months out, and Jennifer said not to get hung up on the carbs or "good food/bad food" thing. In fact, that's how we ended up here in the first place, when food became an all consuming control issue. Eat what works for you and remember, you're taking in less than you're working off, so you'll lose weight.
My problem is trying to find something that doesn't disagree with me. I'm finally on soft food, but things are staying where they're supposed to, so I'm having a hard time eating anything. We'll get there, don't worry.
