Surgery March 14...getting ready!!!

My surgery is almost here and have been getting things in line. I'll be on pureed once I come home. I have samples of shakes plus some Nectar and Proscore100 I have been drinking for a few weeks now to get my protein levels up! I just bought a new recliner as I did not have one...only large cushy sofas and bed so was worried about thoses. I have my vitamins and some food items. I have chapstick for the hospital too. I'm going to pack this weekend. I'm hoping my surgery is a bit later so I can get my sons off to school. If it is early...maybe they will stay with my mom. I having surgery lap hopefully...if all goes as planned. I understand I may come home with a drainage tube...it is okay to shower with those, right? A good thing though.. no colon blast....just eat lightly over the weekend. Please let me know if there was anything helpful I should stock up on now or take that maybe I have forgotten. Dear Peggy; First of all congratulations on your surgery date....it's my real birthday!! Chapstick and a robe are your bestfriends at the hospital. I took magazines but never really looked at them because I walked instead of looked at them. The main thing you need to do is walk. It helps a lot. Take your pain meds that they offer you. It doesn't hurt you to take them. The day after surgery is the worst and it gets better from there. Just keep that in mind. I also took my favorite shampoo and body wash as well as lotion. Not all docs are alike, but I came home with my drain and had no probelms with it. You can shower with it and do everything you noramlly do with it in. It feels really weird coming out....kinda burns and lot of pressure. You'll do great. Take care and God Bless you. Andrea

Hi! Thanks for the response! I don't have a robe and was considering picking one up. I used to go to college at SIUC... a very good friend of mine was from Murphysboro... Jim is one of my all time best friends. He and his wife just had their first baby and he still is in Ohio with Toyota. I will... I have been wanting to go down there as still have friends who work at SIU that I would love to see! Thank you for the response and the invite!!! Peggy

Good luck. Its great you are preparing. I loved using my lip gloss in the hospital..Im adicted to using it everyday anyway. I bought gloss cuz it made me feel prettier..and the day after sugery you will need all you can to "feel" pretty! Its great you have a recliner..I wish I would have bought one before hand. Im 11 days out and still wish I had one! Ill be praying for your speedy recovery!! Elizabeth
