Welcome Home Harbor! Sorry about the long delay in my reply - I was out last Thursday & Friday for pre-ops & my DSL isn't working at home. Glad to hear it went well! I hope you're feeling even better by now. Been getting in that walking? Question for ya'. Did Dr. F's office mention how long they thought you'd have to be off of work? I'm trying to pull together some sort of estimate for the inevitable HR discussion that I'll have to have before my surgery.

Jenny: Karen and I talked about it. They absolutely don't want you to go back to wor****il you've had your first follow-up with Dr. F. Since he has clinic on Fridays - for me it will be 3/18 (surgery was 3/8). At that point, my guess is that Dr. F will assess how you are doing and will offer more guidance about when you can return to work. I'm sure this is very individual. I think Dr. F will assess (among other things) wound healing (infection, etc.), hydration levels (if are you peeing clear -good- or is it dark brown - very bad) and how you are able to tolerate protein in the pouch (throwing up? - not so good). For me, everything is very good. No infections. Pee is clear as the Chicago river (actually better than that) and..so far, what goes down -stays down. Also, my energy level is good. All told, this has been an easier transition than I expected. I only wish that I'd stop dreaming of garlic bread and bacon. My pre-surgery dreams were about cute girls in swimsuits, now I lust for pancakes. I guess we always want what we can't have. C'est la vie. I told my teamleader to expect me back on 3/28 (three weeks off total) - however, I might only work part-time at first. I think I am still on target for that. I hope this helps!!! Harbor

Yes that definitely helps. Thanks for the info. Sounds like 3 weeks and then possibly a modified work schedule (especially given my 2 hours per day on the Metra). I'm so glad that you're doing well! I keep getting more and more nervous as the date gets closer and seeing how well you're doing so soon after surgery definitely is definitely motivating and reasuring!
