Looking for a Support Group in Edwardsville
Quite a switch from the Chicago area eh?
I grew up about 20 mins from E'ville and will be moving back to Staunton over the next month or so. I lived up in Schaumburg for a while a few years ago. An experience all in it's own
. Edwardsville's pretty easy to get around except for the increasing traffic congestion and construction. My mom has worked there for years. I was out by Glen Carbon the other day and had to turn around because the shortcut I usually take to come out by the movie theater on Center Grove Road was closed. Plans are in the works for a potential get-together in the Belleville/Collinsville area so keep an eye out on the boards!
Hugz,
Cathy

Yes Cathy. Edwardsville is quite a switch from Chicago. I grew up in Elgin and I lived in Hoffman Estates which is just northwest of Schaumburg. I really miss Woodfield Mall. Yes, Cougar Drive is closed.
That is my shortcut to get to my daughter's house. She lives in Glen Carbon. I don't like driving on Center Grove because of all of the congestion.
I will keep an eye out for a get together in the Belleville/Collinsville area. Hopefully there will be one before my surgery. My insurance just approved it on Friday and I called Nancy Corbett (the Bariatric Surgery Coordinator at the Midwest Bariatric Center) to let her know. Hopefully, I will hear from her tomorrow.
Huggs,
Pam

i AM NOT SURE OF ONE BUT i MUST PUT MY TWO SENCE IN. i GREW UP IN ELMHURST AND MOVE TO EDWARDSVILE 10 YEARS AGO.. IT IS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY OR LIKE ANOTHER PLANET. I MISS CHICAGO AND JUST WISH I COULD AFFORD TO MOVE BACK. ALSO ST LOUIS IS SO EASY TO GET TO AND DRIVE THROUGH. IF YOU LIVED IN CHICAGO IT IS A COMPLETE CAKEWALK THE THE TRAFFIC IN EDWARDSVILLE IS WORST THEN THE HIGHWAYS. (JUST IN CASE YOU CAN'T FIND ONE NEAR YOUR HOUSE) ALTHOUGH I DO THINK MO DRIVERS ARE INSANE AND MAJORITY DRIVE BAD. I HOPE THIS DIDN'T SOUND RUDE I WAS JUST GIVING SOME INPUT
Deliah, you hit the nail on the head! MO drivers scare me. They cut you off, don't use turning signals and are just all around bad drivers. My greatest fear is getting lost in St Louis. I am not familiar with the streets and the different bridges. The streets in the interstate in Chicago just made logical sense to me. There is no rhyme or reason to the streets in St Louis and there are so many interstates and highways that if you are not in the right lane, you could miss your exit. I can only drive there during the day because I can see the signs better than at night.
Thanks for your response. I appreciate your input.
