your too sweet Cindy..lol I'll do it 3 days post op.. I'm always ready to go. Heck, after I had each of my kids I was ready to go home within an hour or so. It drove me nuts having to stay there. No really, whenever you guys have a chance to do it, DO IT. ...if it falls on the 5th, dont worry about it, There will be more chances! Cindy- have you heard any more from Dr. O's on your date yet???

No - doggone it!!! I guess I will just have to rattle their chain again today on my lunch hour. I am gonna drive them , calling them so much - but hey - Dr. O told me that after I met with Martha, the dietician on 2/28, I would get my date....but I didn't ! How are things going for you? Are you all set yet? Do you have all of your goodies in order? I am so excited for you!!! This is just SO great that we have a place to go when we are having a bad day or even a GREAT day and just need to talk to someone...everyone here is just so awesome! Hopefully we can all get together soon! Hugs, Cindy Lou Who

that stinks... I was hoping you'd have a date already. Thing are going good here. I have my pre-op class next Tuesday, then after that I go at 3:30 for the blood gas test. Then I guess the following week I have to go BACK up there for all the pre-op testing. As far as being set- HA... are you ever set for something this major?? I've got alot of what I need. I figure I'll end up forgetting something... thats the way it always is. But I've already got my little bag packed, because I KNOW I'd forget something to bring. I've got my slippers, robe, chapstick,a nightgown(I'm sooo not fond of hospital gowns..lol) and a book(doubt I'll be reading, but just in case)

That would be a good idea for someone to share with us - what to take to the hospital! Did he tell you how many days he expects you to be in the hospital? What do you think about the NG tube? Even the catheter - I thought if we are able to get up and walk, we should be able to get to the bathroom. I hate hospital gowns too! They get so twisted up and you are cut open and not able to adjust yourself very easily. Do you have sleep apnea? I was wondering if we should bring our own CPAP machine? Do you bring your meds with you too? Do you know anything about that hospital? Do you know what floor you will be on? Do you have a lot of friends and family that will be with you? I probably won't bring a book and just try to sleep as much as possible since when I get home, I won't get much time to myself if my kids are there. Well, hopefully we will be able to get together soon! Cindy

Cindy, Definately bring your cpap. I had to take mind. Check with your dr. He might say differently. They will send someone from respitatory to set it up for you. You will have the catheter in for at least 1 full day. You will be able to get up and walk with the nurse and carry your bag. Lovely picture, isn't it. LOL You don't need to bring any meds with you. You won't be taking them. I am working on setting a date on a get together. I was thinking April 2nd. Its a Saturday. Michelle

Here's what I know from what Dr. O has told me.. Michelle answered alot of them and THANK YOU!! It gives me a better idea of what to bring, etc. what to take to the hospital! Did he tell you how many days he expects you to be in the hospital? Dr. O told me 3-4 days, unless something unexpected happens. What do you think about the NG tube? not to crazy about it, but its a small price to pay..lol Even the catheter - I thought if we are able to get up and walk, we should be able to get to the bathroom..... Michelle- do they have a cover to put over the bag so nobody in the halls can see? I know in the nursing homes when I worked it was a state rule. Do you have sleep apnea? I dont have sleep apnea, at least not that I know of. Do you know anything about that hospital? I havent went anywhere but to Dr. O's floor- 5th floor. I'm sure when we go to the class, Ann will let up know all that. I have heard though its an EXCELLENT HOSPITAL. Do you know what floor you will be on? not sure Do you have a lot of friends and family that will be with you? The day I have surgery, OMG, it seems like my WHOLE family is going to be up there.lol Its going to be my mom, her husband, my sister, grama, my husband and our 3 boys.My dad is SUPPOSED to come, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Once I get home, I've got all kind of support here, so thats a plus.

As far as what to take to the hospital, you really wont need much. Slippers, robe, nightgown, chapstick and book will be about all you will need. You will be sleeping alot and walking. Believe me you won't feel like doing much. You won't be in a lot of pain if its done lap but you still won't be very active. Besides, 3 days go pretty fast. Oh yeah, toothbrush and toothpaste. You might want to bring those. Michelle
